Mechanical Design Engineer I (Finance)

Engineer I

Location: Clearwater, FL.

This opening is in the Electronic Test Systems that supports production and test of all Space and Defense electronic assemblies. The environmental testing performed in our lab simulates the actual environments our products will experience for both Defense and Space applications including vibration, thermal, vacuum, and many others. The Environmental lab provides critical 24/7 testing for more than 30 Defense & Space programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Design test fixtures and tooling to support program testing.
  • Apply Engineering principles and discipline to the development of environments to meet program requirements for dynamic and climatic testing, writing test procedures and test reports.
  • Ability to meet technical schedule and cost requirements for assigned projects/tasks.
  • Ability to interface with both program staff and customers to support technical definition and execution of product testing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work in a small team atmosphere.
  • Assist Technicians with environmental equipment failures. Lead efforts in troubleshooting/maintenance/repair to quickly return equipment back to ready status.
  • Anticipate problems, recognize and eliminate barriers.
  • Plan and organize complex technical tasks.
  • Keep management apprised of program status, resource issues, and program roadblocks.
  • Understand technology and management concepts required for Honeywell products and processes.
  • Position requires good people skills and the ability to work effectively with other organizations and individuals at all levels.
  • Must adapt well to a changing environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Due to Government regulations, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD tools (i.e. NX, ProE).
  • Experience with environmental testing of electronic products.
  • Ability to accept responsibility for tasks; set clear objectives; and monitor results.
  • Good problem solving skills. Ability to readily identify issues and takes steps necessary to provide resolutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create and deliver a vision that is aligned with company goals and business needs.
  • Familiar with computers/computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, MatLab)
  • Experience with General Purpose Test Equipment (i.e. DMM, Power supply, Dewesoft data acquisition devices or similar).
  • Strong organization skills - previous experience coordinating work schedules, interfacing with customers, and resolving conflicts
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
