Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a/an Purchasing Manager located in Henrico, VA.

Reporting to the Director – Supply Chain, the Purchasing Manager role involves overseeing activities related to the procurement of Direct & Indirect materials, parts, components and equipment. Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in procurement consistent with delivery requirements and quality specifications.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.

  • Establishes goals for purchasing department.

  • Follow-up policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities.

  • Manage and guide a team of buyers and expeditors to meet procurement and supplier management goals

  • Interface with procurement groups in updating and maintaining company procurement strategies

  • Implement processes with suppliers to improve on time delivery and Purchase Price Variance

  • Helping implementation of Vendor Managed Inventory models

  • Supervise the team in the management of the supply chain to achieve continuous timely supply of parts and services

  • Approves purchase orders and change notices through subordinates.

  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.

  • Ensures continuity of raw material supply to help production schedules and balances with achieving inventory level targets.

  • Investigates inventory levels. Helps process to manage excess and obsolete material.

  • Conduct supplier performance reviews and help the team to maintain supplier consistent on time delivery and implement processes with suppliers to ensure on time delivery and quality of product / service

  • Keep senior management informed of present/future trends in availability and cost of materials, components and equipment

  • Monitors on-time supplier deliveries, inventory turns, MRP execution, Purchase Price Variance, processing time reduction, supplier performance and cost investigation.

  • Act as first point of escalation with suppliers and communicate all unresolved issues to the Supply Chain Director

  • Work closely with the team to ensure purchasing compliance to corporate directives

  • Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with procurement and purchasing functions; and with minimum 5 years' experience of people management/leading teams.

  • Demonstrates expert functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as supplier (external and internal) relationship skills.

  • Demonstrates detailed expertise in very complex functional/technical area or broad breadth of knowledge in multiple areas; understands the strategic impact of the function across sites

  • Knowledge and understanding with experience in an engineered-to-order (ETO) manufacture facility

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, suppliers, senior management, and the public.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
