HR Representative and Case Manager (MEI) (Human Resources)

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Human Resources Representative and Case Manager coordinates, implements, and manages all recruitment, employment processes, human resource activities, employee relations/case management, and compliance requirements for project site locations. Acts as the liaison between corporate human resources, and field operations and customers. This job class requires broad, in-depth human resources knowledge, as well as knowledge of Mavagi Enterprises, Inc. policies and procedures, and the ability to recruit and maintain proper case files for a disabled target population in accordance with the Javits-Wagner-ODay (JWOD) Act and ABILITY ONE Guidelines.

Job Duties:

  • Assesses recruiting needs from managers stated requirements and develops sourcing strategies to target disabled candidates for JWOD/ABILITY ONE programs and contracts. Designs and implements pro-active programs to address recruiting, selection, and retention of persons with and without disabilities.
  • Coordinates recruiting activities and events with community agencies, markets job openings through job postings, Internet sources, job fairs, and businesses to attract qualified disabled candidates. Provides presentations or materials to educate the public or referral agencies of job openings.
  • Prescreens candidates and coordinates interviews and recruiting processes with managers and other staff as necessary. Mentors managers on hiring/interview practices to ensure legal compliance.
  • In recruiting files, maintains documentation for all open and closed positions, offer and denial letters, and related recruiting documentation. Updates job postings, advertisements, and applicant files.
  • Provides customer service to managers and employees to manage employee issues, disability, accommodations, answer questions concerning pay, benefits, etc., solve problems proactively, and resolve conflicts.
  • Creates and manages case files as required by JWOD/ABILITY ONE, federal, state, and county regulations. Completes written assessments for all employees with disabilities to ensure they qualify under JWOD/ABILITY ONE and that Mavagi Enterprises, Inc. is making all accommodations as necessary. Ensure files meet requirements to pass internal and external audits.
  • Provides training to supervisory personnel to support their efforts to help our employees with disabilities be successful on the job.
  • May provide or refer employee to crisis intervention and counseling.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years experience in human resources, preferably in an exempt capacity.
  • Knowledge of a variety of employment laws to include, workers compensation, Americans with Disabilities Act, equal employment opportunity, leaves of absence, wage and hour, labor laws, JWOD, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from team, customers and others.
  • Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English.
  • Human relations skills to maintain effective working relationships with team
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Bachelors in Human Resources or related field
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
    • Viewing computer screen/monitor
    • Utilizing keyboard
    • Answering phone/making calls
  • Be able to pass a background check and screening requirements as required by contract and company standards.
