Mechanical Designer – Experienced (Hybrid Remote based in St. Louis) (Finance)
McClure Engineering is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to work alongside other talented designers and engineers on a wide range of projects involving complex building and campus systems. The selected candidate will create detailed designs using AutoCAD and/or Revit seeing them through construction and perform inspections out in the field while mentoring less experienced drafters and designers.

The Opportunity:
Perform design and layout functions required for complex HVAC and plumbing projects (duct/pipe sizing and routing; equipment room layout; flow diagrams; coordination with building elements and building systems and coordination with outside clients), while coordinating with designers, drafters, and engineers. Review drawings for proper practices, quality, clarity, and consistency with office design standards and building codes. Perform field inspections to verify and document existing site conditions. Effectively coordinate and at times lead efforts with internal and external members of the design team, including firm staff, client owners and architects. Coordinate equipment locations, routing and share pertinent project information with other disciplines and/or clients in a timely manner. Conceptualize and organize a cohesive mechanical design product and at times coordinate the team in order to assemble the drawings. Mentor less experienced, apprentice level mechanical designers and drafters.
The Required Capabilities and Credentials:
Technical or Associates degree from an accredited technical institution or college is required. Bachelors or Associates degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology is also acceptable. 5+ years experience in mechanical design/drafting including the design, layout and sizing of mechanical piping and ductwork for building systems. Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit. Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings. Proficiency in MS Office. Superior communication skills, Willingness to share ideas and assist others. Naturally curious; Takes initiative and ownership of work.

The Work Environment:
Work environment is primarily indoors at firms facility, with approximately 10% of time spent indoors/outdoors at project or construction sites where hard-hat and other safety gear is often required. (PPE is provided by firm.) While performing field work associated with this position employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and carry and/or climb ladders of varying heights. The employee may lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
