Purpose:
~ Ensure Individual New Model and Current Model vehicles meets HMA goals for quality and customer satisfaction.
~ Evaluate and align Hyundai vehicles and accessories to market requirements, customer requirements, and road and usage conditions.
~ Charged with tracking and reporting product quality and customer satisfaction concerns. Concerns tracked to closure by promptly managing the appropriate actions (parts, dealer, technician support, owner communication, etc.).
~ Responsible for timely distribution of all related Technical Service Bulletins.
~ Collect and clearly present field quality data to HMC and partner Hyundai affiliates to ensure appropriate alignment of priorities.
Major Responsibilities:
~ Lead total vehicle evaluation and manage evolving dealer and customer expectations by researching, testing, and reporting product performance issues. Assist HMC in improving quality, operation and customer targeting of new models.
~ Complete the New Model Development process, including tracking issues to closure through cooperation with HMC R&D, Quality, HATCI and NAQC.
~ Responsible for setting the overall and component level Acceptable Quality Level (AQL).
~ Responsible for tracking vehicle performance versus established quality targets (examples: TCQ/CR/VDS/IQS/FRFT/CQI). Develop and maintain a list of action items to address top concerns and/or gaps to best in class.
~ Ensure on time delivery of high-quality accessories by ensuring products meet the performance and durability requirements on US consumers. The end-goal of efforts is to increase US market acceptance and sales performance of Hyundai accessories in the US.
~ Responsible for specialized vehicle preparation and on-site support of Public Relations media events for new car introductions, as well as other Public Relations and Marketing events. This role requires technical evaluation of Hyundai (preproduction and production) and competitive vehicles for short or extended periods.
~ Conduct competitor benchmarking and customer preference studies.
~ Conduct technical investigations and write Quality Information Reports (QIR) to Quality Assurance departments in Korea and follow-up as to the status of open issues.
~ Support Field Repair activities through creation of Technical Service Bulletins, DCS messages, Campaigns, etc.
~ Visit dealerships and ports to gain a first-hand understanding of technical and service related issues where appropriate and to study the effectiveness of proposed and implemented solutions.
~ Attend Ride & Drive evaluations/Ports Audits for assigned models.
~ Assist System Engineer on particular issues that require vehicle specific information.
~ Maintain product knowledge and gain customer/field issue complaint understanding.
~ Evaluate, troubleshoot and diagnose vehicle installed field failure parts (Improved QIR problem definition).
~ Develop, evaluate, and validate vehicle failure countermeasures.
~ Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Authority:
~ Author and publish complex technical documents/trip reports using PowerPoint and other similar tools.
~ Issue Quality Information Reports (QIR).
~ Issue Technical Service Bulletins (TSB).
~ Issue Dealer Communication System message (DCS).
~ Provide direction to field staff and TechLine.
~ Limited authority to analyze products and identify product issues requiring correction prior to vehicle introduction.
Education:
~ Must be a high school graduate
~ Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
~ Master's degree a plus
Related Experience:
~ Four to seven years of directly related work experience or equivalent.
~ Automotive Retail and Wholesale experience preferred.
Skill / Knowledge:
~ Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
~ Thorough automotive technical knowledge required.
~ Strong written and oral communications skills.
~ Strong analytical/problem solving ability.
~ Strong data management/general and statistical analysis/reporting capabilities.
~ Strong organizational skills yet flexible to accomplish objectives that are often subject to change.
~ Able to work independently with minimal supervision and direction.
Physical Requirements:
~ Normal office duties.
~ Occasional lifting and/or vehicle mechanical assembly/disassembly.
~ Work requires vehicle evaluations, travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections. This requires the possession of a valid state driver's license and good driving record.
~ Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
~ Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time (sometimes with short notice).
