Primary Role

Supervise the operation of assigned Company facilities and personnel engaged in the functional areas of customer and field service. Develop operations strategies and direct and manage the operations and maintenance for field services within the Coastal Division (Monterey). Implement best operating practices to promote regulatory compliance, continuous improvement, innovation, and excellent customer service. Ensure that operational integrity is maintained, including regulatory compliance with all tasks in all facilities. Provide strategic and operational input to control budgets for responsible areas, and ensure that operational and financial targets are met or exceeded. Lead, motivate, and develop staff in assigned operations areas. Build shared commitment to improving performance, and develop both individual and team capabilities. Drive performance by linking departmental objectives to company goals and values. Communicate a shared vision, energize and empower staff, and champion diversity. Provide effective leadership that will enhance abilities to be flexible to changing business environments. Work collaboratively with the operations and engineering staff to develop the strategy and priorities for capital investment projects and drive the effective implementation of such projects. Offer support to other Coastal Division departments involved in the production, and distribution operations.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of the regulated water and wastewater business within the region and the regulations impacting the business as well as applicable regulations, requirements, and trends within water business.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures and management theories, practices, and trends.
  • Knowledge of process and operational areas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (e.g., fluency, report writing, developing materials and presentations).
  • Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., persuasion, negotiation, listening, cooperation, tact, diplomacy, problem solving, internal consulting, etc.)
  • Excellent leadership skills and presence and strong team building, collaboration and talent evaluation skills.
  • Excellent quantitative skills (e.g., analytical, technical).
  • Ability to manage a geographically diverse and dispersed organization.
  • High level of computer literacy required.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) years of previous supervisory experience.

Certifications

  • California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB)
  • Distribution Operator Grade 2 certification required or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.
