Maintenance Planner (Maintenance)

This position will improve workforce productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and materials, tools and equipment, required permits, specialized documentation, and equipment access.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for continuous improvement of preventive maintenance planning and prioritizing work order completion. 

  • Advise Maintenance Manager of all critical issues and assist in planning to prevent issues. 

  • Interact, communicate, and collaborate with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Purchasing, Maintenance Forepersons, Maintenance Technicians, Production Manager, and/or Production Supervisors to meet the needs of plant operations daily.

  • Review the production schedule daily with the Maintenance Manager to ensure lines are changed over, set up, and tested at the earliest opportunity.

  • Receive and examine all work orders to be done and determine the scope and best way to accomplish workload and assign accordingly.

  • Identify and obtain materials required on the work orders and prepare for assigned technicians.   

  • Develop and maintain planner reference systems (library) including a file of planned job packages for recurring jobs.

  • Ensure completed work orders are returned promptly and filled out accurately by all required personnel.

  • Perform post-job reviews to ensure actual work performed and post-maintenance testing was adequate.

  • Identify changes needed to the PM program (based on activity results) and/or changes to equipment design and/or inventory management practices to optimize the overall maintenance process. 

  • Provide Maintenance Manager with supporting reports of labor usage, parts, and material usage, trending documentation, etc.

  • Ensure food safety/quality policies are followed, and report all food safety/quality problems out of their realm of responsibility to the proper authority to initiate corrective actions. 

  • Report all unsafe acts and unsafe working conditions to supervision/management immediately.  Promotes a safe working environment.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook).

  • Strong knowledge of CMMS systems and related systems/software.

  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety practices and procedures.

  • Fast troubleshooting and resolution skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.

  • Possesses strong organizational skills and analytical skills with proficiencies in data analysis and trend analysis.

  • Possess strong written, verbal, and people skills.

  • Ability to support the improvement of plant reliability and the move from reactive to proactive maintenance work.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years in high volume maintenance manufacturing environment.

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience preferred
