Manufacturing Automation Design Engineer (Finance)
Take ownership of automation projects from concept through to implementation. This includes initial conceptualization and requirements gathering, prototyping, detailed design, testing, validation, installation, and support.
Work with internal customers to develop requirements for automated equipment
Design automated manufacturing equipment for various functions including assembly, inspection, printing, part detection, conveyance, etc.
Create detailed mechanical designs that integrate actuators, sensors, safety components, motors, 6-axis robots, etc.
Design, fabricate, and test prototypes.
Generate and maintain detailed engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and procedures.
Generate documentation specifying equipment requirements, validating its performance, and detailing instructions for operation, maintenance and repair of equipment.
Work with the team to manage the scheduling, specification, costing, design, installation, verification, and validation of automated assembly equipment.
Specify and evaluate third-party machinery and equipment to integrate into manufacturing line. This includes building relationships with third-party vendors and testing equipment before purchase.
Support Controls Engineers with control systems design, programming, and implementation.
Assemble and wire electrical enclosures and auxiliary equipment as needed.
Support programming of programmable logic controllers (PLC's), Human-Machine Interface (HMI's) touch panels, and other industrial controllers.
Program industrial vision sensors for locating parts and inspection.
Program multi-axis robots.
Configure industrial communication networks using standard protocols, such as Ethernet/IP, MODBUS TCP/RTU, etc.
Troubleshoot issues in mechanical design, PLC programming, wiring, vision programming, and machine sequencing.
Train machine operators and technicians on operating and maintaining equipment.
Support maintenance and repair tasks to minimize equipment downtime.
Design all equipment with flexibility and modularity to allow for modifying or adding functions as the requirements change.
Support team members on projects, as necessary.
Brainstorm and problem-solve with team members.
Perform other tasks as required.
