Position Overview / OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Director of Operational Planning and Procurement has the critical responsibility of developing, executing, and leading the strategic direction of our sourcing and planning teams.  Including our sourcing strategies, operational planning and scheduling strategy, and the performance / development of the Production Planning and Purchasing Teams. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, sustain and enhance processes from sourcing material to the scheduling equipment on the shop floor.
  • Build and develop a global supply chain through your purchasing team.
  • Identify and implement supply chain optimization initiatives.
  • Deploy strategies and tactics for integrated materials management, procurement, strategic sourcing, capacity planning and tactical procurement.
  • Develop strategies for dual sourcing both domestically and overseas.
  • Lead strategies designed to increase parts availability.
  • Drive for continually improving PPV through strong supplier relationships.
  • Lead team members to develop and execute short-term and long-range capacity planning and analysis.
  • Identify training and development needs of team and develop/execute training plans.
  • Develop and manage risk mitigation strategies to protect key strategic objectives
  • Work cross-functionally to monitor customer demand patterns
  • Lead the decision-making process for new and exiting products in collaboration with other departments

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of experience, to include at least one assignment within a manufacturing facility. 

  • Proven success making fast data driven decisions based on the best available information and ability to adapt
  • Ability to effectively challenge /coach leaders and others; effectively interact with employees at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage the direction and development of the team with honest communication and consistency
  • Strong knowledge in all areas of supply chain, including procurement, logistics, vendor management, inventory optimization, and supply and demand planning
  • Strong analytical skills and ability create advanced spreadsheets to communicate data

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Required, MBA preferred
  • Director or executive level experience leading Sourcing, Supply Chain, Procurement, and planning departments in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Managerial experience in Operations in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Travel: 10~20%
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing to operating income.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent business acumen, with demonstrated skills in process improvement.
