Computer Hardware Engineer (Engineering)



Position: Computer Hardware Engineer
Location: TBD- Pending Specific Task Order
Clearance Required: Minimum Secret Clearance 
Salary Range: TBD- Pending Specific Task Order

Knowesis has an ongoing need for a qualified Computer Hardware Engineer to assist the Department of Defense (DoD) Artificial Intelligence Talent 2.0 Program. These roles entail delivering outstanding support in AI, encompassing non-traditional program and technical management, various work products, administration and operations, logistics, graphics, project management, and training for both DoD agencies and the cyber community.

Candidates must possess a minimum Secret Security Clearance and be U.S. Citizens (applicants unable to provide evidence of U.S. citizenship will not be considered due to the security clearance prerequisite for this position).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, develop, and test computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and develop hardware solutions to meet those requirements.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate hardware components, including processors, memory, storage devices, and networking equipment.
  • Design and develop hardware architectures, circuit boards, and electronic systems to support computer operations.
  • Conduct thorough testing and verification of hardware designs to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Identify and resolve hardware-related issues or defects during the development and testing phases.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure hardware-software compatibility and optimize system performance.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of hardware designs, specifications, test plans, and results.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in computer hardware technology and industry trends.
  • Supervise computer or computer-related equipment and components manufacturing and installation processes.
  • Oversee the production of hardware prototypes and coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to ensure quality control.
  • Conduct on-site visits to monitor the installation and integration of computer hardware systems.
  • Collaborate with technicians and other engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues during manufacturing and installation.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders regarding computer hardware systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in computer hardware engineering or a related field.
  • Strong computer hardware architectures, digital circuit design, and electronics knowledge.
  • Proficiency in hardware design tools like CAD software and simulation tools.
  • Experience with hardware testing and validation methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in designing computer hardware for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific applications.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to computer hardware.
  • Experience with FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller programming.
  • Understanding of networking protocols and architectures.
  • Project management skills and experience in leading hardware development projects

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
