Paramedic/AEMT/EMT (Full-time, 6a-6a with call from 10p-6a, 24-48 hours a week) (Finance)
Provides emergent and non-emergent patient care to patients of all ages (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric):
Overall assessment, observation, treatment, reassessment, and transport of patients.
Vital signs per patient needs.
Spinal immobilization.
Application of dressings.
Splinting when needed.
Administration of oxygen.
Advanced airway management - oropharyngeal, combitube, endotracheal, and nasal intubation.
Federal Drug Administration approved home monitoring glucometers.
Intravenous therapy including venipuncture from peripheral or external jugular sites.
Monitoring and administration of intravenous fluid.
Drawing of blood from venipuncture.
Intraosseous administration and maintenance.
Manual defibrillation and cardioversion.
Nasogastric tube insertion.
Needle thoracostomy.
Cricoidthyroidotomy.
Iced saline irrigation.
Saline lock for second intravenous access.
Additional basic skills as needed.
Performs general ambulance maintenance:
Daily ambulance, medication, and glucometer checks.
Replacement of oxygen canisters.
Maintains cleanliness of ambulance inside and out.
Fueling ambulance.
Restocking equipment after use in ambulance and supply cabinet.
Restocking of linens in ambulance and linen cabinet.
Weekly inventory of ambulance and supply cabinet.
Operates and maintains general ambulance equipment:
Heart monitor.
IV infusion pump.
Cot.
Portable suction.
Pulse oximetry unit.
Stabilization equipment.
Communication equipment.
BLS and ACLS equipment.
Performs general administrative duties:
Understands and completes all Medicare forms, NARSIS forms, COBRA/EMTALA forms, and release of liability forms.
Operates computer systems including Meditech.
Enters patients for admissions.
Enters billing into order entry.
Enters runs into log information.

While performing the duties of this job, employees the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works with explosive, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The level of risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens is Classification (I), as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy.

EDUCATION
High School Diploma or G.E.D
Successful completion of an EMT Intermediate-Advanced Program
EXPERIENCE
Prior experience as an EMT or similar role preferred but not required
COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Current licensure as an EMT-P in the state of Nebraska.
Must possess a valid Operators License.
Current BLS certification.
Current ACLS certification.
Current PHTLS certification.
National registry as an EMT-P is encouraged.
