Specialist / Senior Specialist, Enterprise Training (Houston) (Information Technology)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Specialist/Senior Enterprise Training Specialist reports to the Enterprise Training Manager and is responsible for advising on and driving processes for the training and competency requirements of the client group(s) the position supports.  This is an individual contributor role.  This role works with the assigned client group(s) to manage the competency profiles, training matrices, and technical development to ensure regulatory compliance and business requirements are met.

This is a non-DOT position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Build and Foster stakeholder relationships for assigned client group(s) by holding regular meetings, understanding business requirements, providing fit for purpose training solutions, and driving alignment with the overall training strategy. 
  • Develops and maintains the client groups' training matrices.
  • Works with client group(s) leadership and uses Training Department systems and processes to drive compliance training requirements to ensure regulatory requirements are maintained at 100%. 
  • Works with client group(s) and Training Department(s) to coordinate and schedule training requirements for qualification and competency systems. Maintains the training calendar and on-the-job training plans; ensures accessibility to the client group(s).
  • Performs gap analysis, advises, and provides solutions for technical development of employees within client group(s).
  • Sources a variety of courses/vendors for specialized, fit for purpose, training requirements and ensures company supply chain processes are followed.
  • Conducts complex needs assessments, determines training solutions, manages development process to include Training Governance Committee approval if necessary, facilitates stakeholder meetings and discussions and implements solutions for training requests from client group(s). 
  • Develops and continuously works to improve training programs for assigned client group(s), independently determining training methods and procedures.
  • Uses the Learning Management System (LMS) to monitor, track and analyze progress of learners to adhere to compliance and business requirements. 
  • The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge:

The Specialist/Senior Enterprise Training Specialist shall have strong knowledge of training needs assessments, different varieties of training interventions, motivational concepts, adult learning theories, instructional design, and project management. They shall have strong knowledge of the client group(s) they support and a base knowledge of the LNG process and site systems.  In addition, strong knowledge of competency systems and regulatory requirements of each client group is essential.

  • Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent communication skills with all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines. 
  • Must be able to gather and synthesize information from a variety of sources in order to organize and provide organizational context when determining solutions for business needs.   
  • Process oriented with the ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple tasks, allocate and optimize resources, and manage timelines; able to take things from start to finish.
  • Results driven and able to build consensus by understanding the concerns and needs of others and how to realistically manage expectations.
  • Self-driven and committed to providing the highest level of service while remaining aligned with the goals of the organization.
  • Data analysis, problem solving and evaluation skills.
  • Must be able to take complex technical material and translate it into an understandable learning language.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in learning management systems (LMS).      Cornerstone experience preferred. 
  • Computer savvy including Microsoft Office Suite including, Word, Excel, Access, Visio, and PowerPoint. 
  • Expert skills utilizing Articulate Suite, Camtasia, Vyond, or other eLearning authoring tools. 
  • Works effectively with others and motivates the team(s) to improve on the status quo.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Education, Training and Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Training, Education, Science, Engineering, or relevant technical discipline. 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree. High school degree or GED required.

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years' experience as a Training Specialist or in a Training related role with a degree. Preferably within Oil and Gas.
    • Specialist – Three (3) years of relevant experience. 
    • Senior Specialist – Five (5) or more years of relevant experience.

FREEDOM TO ACT

Requires supervision; must also use sound judgment and make good decisions. This role is accountable for the competency judgment decision made during assessment.

 

WORK CONDITIONS 

  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends. 
  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
