Cook (Tropicana) (Food Services)
Responsible for food preparation, organization and daily kitchen operations of assigned kitchen work
station based on College Fresh's vision and goals – fresh, made from scratch food and outstanding
Prepares or coordinates preparation of food served using established production procedures and
Observes proper food preparation and handling techniques.
Determines amount and type of food and supplies required using established protocols.
Ensures availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation.
Sets steam table; serves or ensures proper serving of food in dining area.
Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene and health standards.
Stores food properly and safely, marking the date and item following company policy and local health
Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature and
appearance of food are preserved to ensure each and every diner has an outstanding experience.
Keeps work area neat and clean at all times; cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation.
Completes food temperature checks before service as required.
Represents College Fresh with client, including student members, corporate headquarters, local alumni
and house director or property manager on a daily basis.
Performs routine assignments such as dishwashing, mopping, sweeping, garbage removal, and other
daily cleaning functions as assigned.
Adheres to all management, client, local and state cleaning and sanitation procedures/regulations.
Assists with special event meal preparation such as recruitment, homecoming, etc. as required.
Serves meals during meal service if required.
May be required to assist on other work stations (grill, omelet, salad bar etc.) during the absence of other

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This position could be part-time or full-time and could work varying hours between Monday – Sunday
(depending on contract and business needs).
No travel is expected for this position.
This job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers,
slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers and chef's knives. The employee is frequently exposed to
heat, steam, fire and noise.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items
weighing 30 pounds or less.
The employee is required to stand for extended periods of time.
The position requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Required Education and Experience:
1-2 years' experience working in a professional kitchen or restaurant environment as a prep/line cook.
1-2 years' customer service experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Normally requires a high school diploma.
1-2 years of customer service experience required; Cook and/or Cook's assistant experience preferred.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
