Labor Relations Partner (Legal)



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts surveys, interviews, and other research related to associate relations; collects information, develops recommendations and action plans and reports results and recommendations to VP & DGC, Labor Relations, and other executive leaders
  • Leads teams in developing action plans to improve the associate experience and culture. Facilitates weekly calls with cross-functional teams to track progress.
  • Facilitates conversations between employees and management in support of an engaged culture supporting UNFI as a workplace of choice.
  • Conducts training on employee engagement and labor relations matters; works cross functionally to bring additional communications and projects to conclusion.  Maintains or updates trainings as needed.
  • Work directly with Operations and HR leadership on issues, projects and action plans relating to associate relations and engagement.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to collective bargaining, unions, and labor relations and develops team processes and documents relating to associate relations and engagement.
  • Approximately 50-75% domestic travel required.
  • Performs other relevant job duties as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

  • Work experience in a labor relations, human resources or warehouse management capacity required, with bachelor's degree and/or educational equivalent strongly preferred

Experience:

  • 5-7+ years' work experience in a labor relations, human resources, or warehouse management capacity
  • Project management experience is preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish a strong plus

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Ability to handle sensitive and highly confidential information
  • Must have the ability to influence others and achieve results through others
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives at any given time in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are required with the ability to convert insights into actions
  • Must be comfortable with providing difficult messages or having difficult conversations
  • Ability to interact with all levels of associates, including senior executives
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, database, and word-processing programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint is strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:

  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment, although position will also work in warehouse and transportation environments
    • •Exposed to temperatures, ranging from -20◦to 35◦Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37◦to 90◦Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. 
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment as part of the normal workday
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
