Impact Analyst - Remote (Finance)



Job Overview:

The Sustainability & Impact Analyst will lead in the collection, analysis and reporting of key environmental and impact-related metrics, spanning multiple functional areas, and including topics such as climate, community, responsible procurement, associate safety and well-being, and waste reduction. The Analyst will be a key team member supporting the achievement of UNFI's 2030 sustainability goals by ensuring complete, accurate, and transparent disclosures and reporting. Through proactive and effective analysis and reporting, the Analyst will help to bring the Company's impact into focus for a diverse group of stakeholders, including associates, customers, suppliers and shareholders, and ensure compliance with relevant climate reporting regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

• Partner closely with the Impact Reporting Manager, Business Analytics team and internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop and execute monthly, quarterly and annual dashboards - identifying trends and insights to enable progress toward UNFI's sustainability and impact goals.

• Lead the quantitative collection and analysis for UNFI's annual Impact Report, serving as a key member of the cross-functional impact reporting team.

• Manage annual greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting for Scopes 1, 2 and 3, including data collection, validation, and quality control processes to ensure complete, accurate and auditable climate disclosures via our annual CDP response and Impact Report.

• Oversee the third-party verification of annual GHG inventory and assurance needed to ensure compliance with climate reporting regulations, including updates to UNFI's Inventory Management Plan.

• Leverage key reporting platforms, including third-party solutions and Tableau to compile, analyze and report on sustainability and impact performance.

• Provide guidance and training to cross-functional partners and SMEs on data collection, validation, quality control and analysis best practices.

• Partner with the Impact Reporting Manager, SMEs, UNFI Internal Audit and other Finance team members to establish effective controls and governance of external sustainability disclosures.

• Research, collect and prepare ad hoc reporting as requested by leadership.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in data/computer science, information systems, sustainability/environmental science, business, finance or another related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience:

• 3-5 years' experience in analytics or sustainability reporting role.

• Experience with sustainability and ESG reporting frameworks required (CDP, GRI, SASB, TCFD).

• Tableau, Powerbait, Alteryx and/or other data analytics software experience required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Robust data analysis and visualization skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of quality, speed, and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written.)
  • Strong knowledge of current topics related to sustainability and impact.

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

  • This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

Travel (minor):

• This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
