Senior Controls Engineer - Onsite (Finance)

The Automation Center is founded to drive innovation and transformations for Amsted Rail Wheel Operations. Our project management team is the hub that facilitates application of best-in-class methodologies, research, support, and training to enable change initiatives for leadership within operations and across the company.  We are currently recruiting for a Sr Controls Engineer that will specialize in vision systems to assist in the implementation of automation systems into our facilities.

What you will do:

  • Provide intermediate level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases for vision system data collection and machine learning.
  • Write programs, develops code, tests artifacts, and produces reports.  Experience with C# or Python a benefit.
  • Ability to learn and integrate Allen Bradley Control Logix software and functionality for industrial control system applications.
  • Translate technical specifications into code for complex robotic automation solutions.
  • Migrate code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule.
  • Proven history of ability to integrates third party software such as Cognex Easybuilder, Cognex VisionPro, Keyence laser and Keyence traditional Vision tools. Matrox DA (Design Assistance), Matrox template programming.
  • Facilitate training of plant personnel on instrumentation set up and testing to include operation of the HMI and SCADA equipment.
  • Ability to develop applications for Model Inspection, 1D/2D Barcodes, OCR/OCV, Measurement, Robot Guidance.
  • Provide follow up production support during machine start-ups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Skills and Experience)
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Controls Engineering with equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience commissioning and troubleshooting machine/ process controls,
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Must be able to work alone and/or within a team.
  • Must be able to engage with customer (operating facilities) in a professional manner.
  • Software: Cognex, Keyence, Allied Vision, Basler, IFM for programing sensors, Matrox, Automated Imaging Association, Machine Vision Lights
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SQL and or integration with HTTP applications or interfaces
