Driver (Finance)
DRIVER $14.43 per hour
The County of Riverside - Public Health department is looking for a Driver to drive a County truck and trailer or van to various vaccination sites throughout the County. This position will drive a truck and trailer from Riverside to a vaccination sight and set up the trailer for the vaccination team. Heavy lifting is required as this position will setup awnings, move equipment such as generators, and handle supplies. The position will work Tuesday through Saturday with varying start times generally between 7:00 and 10:00 am and the position also has the potential for overtime.
Under general supervision, to drive, load, and unload vehicles in the delivery of County property to specified facilities; and to do other work as required.
Positions in this class are assigned the loading, unloading, routing and driving of a truck in the process of making deliveries. The Truck Driver-Delivery class differs from Equipment Operator I in that the former does not drive and operate heavy construction equipment such as dump trucks, water trucks, and tractors. It is distinguished from the class of Stock Clerk in that the latter's primary responsibility is the receiving and storing of goods and materials.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Drives vehicles such as trucks, pick-ups, and vans to make deliveries between a variety of County facilities and other agencies including jails, camps, warehouses, offices, and recreation areas.
• Loads and unloads vehicle using a manual or electric pallet jack or forklift.
• Prepares routing plan for maximum efficiency; prepares receipts for goods picked-up at other County facilities.
• Collects and maintains control of signed receipts for goods delivered; picks up and delivers messenger materials.
• Inspects truck for safety requirements such as fire extinguisher, tire pressure, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water levels.
• Performs minor roadside repairs such as changing tires; installs light bulbs and fuses; keeps truck and equipment clean.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: One year of experience in the operation of delivery vehicles preferably involving determining routes from mailing addresses.
Knowledge of: The operation and minor maintenance of delivery trucks and vans; safe, correct lifting methods.
Ability to: Read sufficiently well to understand addresses and determine, direct or alternate routes from maps; keep records of receipt for all items delivered; make basic arithmetical computations; follow oral and written directions; lift and move heavy packages and supplies.
MEDICAL/DENTAL/VISION INSURANCE: A choice of different medical, dental and visions plan are available to elect. The County provides a Flexible Benefit Credit contribution as governed by the applicable LIUNA Memorandum of Understanding to contribute towards the cost of these plans.

MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT: County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
Contribution rates are subject to change based on the County of Riverside annual actuarial valuation.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance)
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
