Maintenance Planning Supervisor (Project Management)

During our 121-year history, we have developed core competencies in mining, processing, logistics and materials science that enable us to produce and cost-effectively deliver over 400 diversified product types to customers across our end markets. As of December 31, 2020, we operated 23 production facilities across the United States. We control 489 million tons of reserves of commercial silica, which can be processed to make 197 million tons of finished products that meet American Petroleum Institute ("API") frac sand specifications, and 79 million tons of reserves of diatomaceous earth, perlite, and clays.

The Company is headquartered in Katy, Texas, and has an office located in Reno, Nevada.

The Maintenance Planning Supervisor is responsible for the planning and execution of all plant maintenance work. This role will serve as an active player/coach within the maintenance team, both administering jobs, sourcing parts, building kits, and assisting with field supervision to ensure timely execution. The role will be responsible for assistance with Maintenance Management software (JDE) operations and coordination of purchasing activities as they relate to the maintenance function, and for maintaining appropriate spare parts inventory levels. The Planning Supervisor must be well-versed in maintenance tools/techniques and be able to facilitate training for other company employees in maintenance management fundamentals. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates corrective and preventive maintenance activities
  • Serves as the liaison between Maintenance and Operations to prioritize and coordinate work
  • Stages parts and other preparation for maintenance jobs
  • Actively supervises and assists in the completion of maintenance work in the field
  • Develops and maintains a work plan and schedule
  • Ensures that JDE software data files are complete and current
  • Assists with inventory and purchasing functions
  • Identifies, analyzes, and troubleshoots equipment maintenance problems
  • Assists in educating operations or facilities personnel in maintenance management
  • Maintains maintenance department time and attendance, including department vacation calendar
  • Reviews daily Stores Issues Report to confirm accuracy
  • Conducts daily close-out meetings with maintenance crews
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Education level required: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years in front line maintenance experience, including 3+ years of Supervisory experience or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance program elements and methods.
  • Able to give firm direction in day to day assignments to maintenance personnel.
  • Willing to engage all plant personnel to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to approach problems analytically based on a strong foundation of practical experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals/manuals.
  • Computer aptitude for planning and scheduling, ERP system.
  • MS Excel experience and basic skills.
  • Must be accurate and trustworthy with the ability to create and accept change.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Minimal travel possible for training.
  • Prior experience working with skilled trades.
  • Previous experience working with JDE software.
  • Experience with EAM systems or CMMS.
