Director of Engineering and Continuous Improvement (Project Management)



The Director of Engineering and Continuous Improvement is responsible for leadership of the Engineering and Continuous Improvement functions across the Everidge organization. This position will develop, implement, and continue to evaluate the continuous improvement and engineering roadmap and initiatives across the organization. Additionally, this position will be responsible for leading and managing a team to support manufacturing in multiple locations as well as owning standardization, design, and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:

  • Manage a drafting and engineering department to provide sales and manufacturing with appropriate designs and drawings; provide direct leadership and management to drafting employees including oversight, performance management, team engagement, training and development, etc.
  • Analyze improvement opportunities in drafting and engineering processes and lead change implementation.
  • Discover opportunities in product design for cost reductions, product improvements, automation and manufacturing efficiency. Work closely with Sales, Operations and Supply Chain on implementation.
  • Lead a team pursuing continuous improvement in processes and product designs- directly manage continuous improvement roles throughout the organization
  • Develop and lead the continuous improvement roadmap and initiatives across the organization
  • Coach, mentor, and provide support and leadership to the organization on the use of continuous improvement tools
  • Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives to deliver process improvements, lean strategies, and best practices in the areas of lean manufacturing
  • Successfully collaborate with other key department leaders to ensure effective collaboration and workflow amongst functional areas
  • Work closely with plant operations to ensure that production drafting is meeting expectations of operations team
  • Provide support for manufacturing operations for any drafting related issues, problems, or improvements.
  • Focus on customer needs sales and manufacturing and satisfy them on a daily basis
  • Lead companywide standardization efforts and work with various departments to satisfy companies goals
  • Manage engineering expenses and budgets
  • Navigate in a fast-paced environment responding appropriately
  • Drive engineering change and implement SOPs throughout the department
  • Participate in engineering and general design reviewed, as needed
  • Complete regular assessment of drawings to ensure delivery of expected levels of quality by drafting team
  • Manage design protocols including fundamental design practices, engineering change and BOM structure

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience
  • 7+ years of management experience.
  • 5+ years design/drafting experience.
  • Experience of hands-on implementation of continuous improvement programs and lean solutions
  • Ability to work in a fast, efficient environment with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in budgeting, tracking costs, analyzing data, and developing action plans

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

  • Continuous Improvement/Lean Certifications
  • Excellent organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers and technical staff
  • Use computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
  • Proven multitasking skills and the ability to work under extreme pressure
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
