While open to all students in Nashville as a public school, our focus is on being a true neighborhood school for the students and families of the Pearl-Cohn and Whites Creek Clusters.
Encompass is set to open in August 2025, welcoming 105 students in grades K3 to embark on this innovative journey.
About the job:
We are seeking a passionate ESL teacher to join our founding team! In this role, you will deliver high-quality instruction within a mastery-based framework using the Morningside Model of Generative Instruction (MMGI). Recognizing that MMGI may be new to most educators, we provide robust and ongoing professional development to ensure your success in implementing this innovative approach. All classrooms have two educators and the second adult is either a special populations teacher or an instructional assistant.
Beyond the classroom, we believe teachers play a critical role in establishing and fostering a community of belonging for all students and families. The ideal candidate is committed to student success through personalized, evidence-based teaching strategies, thrives in a collaborative setting, and demonstrates a growth mindset.
Our teachers:
Assess the English language proficiency of students and design instruction to support their linguistic and academic developmentDevelopment and implement lesson plans aligned with state and federal ESL standardsEmploy strategies and resources to teach listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to English Language Learners (ELLs)Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the integration of language objectives into core content areasFoster a culturally inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and promotes cross-cultural understandingEnsure compliance with local, state and federal guidelinesDevelop and implement individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) tailored to each student's specific needs, goals, and abilitiesInternalize and execute engaging lessons, units and instructional guides aligned with MMGI principles and school-wide learning goalsActively participate in cycles of continuous improvement through coaching and collaborationParticipate in data meetings, support team meetings, and child find processImplement strategies aligned with Restorative Practices and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Required:

The starting salary for this position is $55,000, and the exact compensation will align with years of experienceThe start date for this position is July 15, 2025This is an in-person position; typical hours for this position are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 7:15am-3:45pmWednesday: 7:15am-4:30pm
