QUALITY ANALYST - MICRO LAB (R&D)

Position Summary

Ready to join a US Best Managed Company? Grain Processing Corporation, a member of the Kent Corporation family of companies, has a fantastic opportunity to join their team as Quality Analyst! This critical role performs testing on defined routine samples of products produced by Grain Processing Corporation, as well as additional special testing or projects as directed by the Analytical Services Manager or Department Microbiologist.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform routine instrument calibrations and maintenance according to instrument work instructions or as needed.
• Perform the required analytical and microbiological testing for each lab. Labs may include Microbiology Lab, Process Water Lab, and or Analytical Lab.
• Perform special assays as required in each lab.
• Perform maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment.
• Work on special projects related to method/instrument development and validation as directed by the manager or Microbiologist.
• Prepare and standardize chemical solutions and media necessary for the lab.
• Assisst with collection of swabs in production or other areas as part of the Evironmental Monitoring Program.
• Know and use good lab practices. This involves proper cleanup of the lab areas and good safety habits.
• Follows aseptic techniques.
• Knowledge of safe handling of pathogens in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory.
• Properly use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), the system used to store all lab data.
• Assist with training of new and existing employees.
• Partner and communicate with Production when issues arise.
• Maintain good communication with all Quality and Production personnel.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Education

• Minimum Bachelors Degree in a Science related discipline, preferably Biology or Microbiology.

Experience & Qualifications

• Previous Microbiology Laboratory experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Proven communication, organizational, math, and computer skills.
• Ability to pay attention to details.

• This position works an 8 hour day shift which includes working weekends, and holidays.
• Overtime is required to cover vacancies, vacation, and training, and/or additional workload when needed.
• Regular attendance is required.
