Essential Functions:
Production Management: Monitor daily production to ensure shipping requirements are met through setting and achieving production rates, leading operator communication, and facilitating productivity improvements.Participate in future planning for manpower requirements, proposing solutions for manpower fluctuations.Work as a member of the management team to define and achieve plant safety, quality, production, and profit goals.Know, communicate, and be responsible for the achievement of manufacturing key measurables, including safety, quality, on time PPAPs, delivery (missed shipments, premium freight, customer concerns), 5S, OEE, and inventory adjustments.Be knowledgeable of, and responsible for, the achievement of all quality-related goals, including PPAP, COQ, FTQ, error-proofing, PPM, and adherence to control plans.Have an active role in the development of departmental standards and be responsible for implementation.Communicate, follow, and enforce safety policies and procedures, including proper utilization of personal protective equipment. Assure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.Mentor production team members, assisting in creating professional and technical growth goals for each team member. Identify future leaders within the plant and support their leadership development.Ensure necessary training is provided to the production team.Participate with human resources in the process of hiring and/or terminating employees, as needed.Participate with other managers within the corporation in developing best practices and implementing standard policies, procedures, and instructions for the production team.Review forward production demand and make recommendations for manpower level adjustments on a monthly basis.Monitor and control overtime schedules and costs.Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor.Ensure the completion of weekly line side/layered audits by Team Leaders.Create action plans and track completion of key production team projects. Complete and present annual performance appraisals for all direct report employees, outlining positive and negative performance, and documenting a plan of action for sub-par performers. Continuous Improvement: Use appropriate problem solving methods to lead the development of successful action plans that achieve permanent corrective actions and eliminate non-conformances. Initiate and participate in 8D or 5 Why teams depending on the customer requirements.Participate in the APQP process as an APQP Team Member.Drive, as well as participate in, lean initiatives, including CIAs, quick set up, 5S, standardized work, and error-proofing.Participate in the evaluation process for maintenance and tool room personnel assigned to the production departments.Participate in, lead, facilitate, and communicate production continuous improvements through Lean Initiatives such as, Kaizen (CIA), Value Analysis, Kanban, Error Proofing, Problem Solving, Standardized Work, Quick Set-Up, and Six Sigma activities.Drive corrective action process for the production team, including the creation of action plans and ensuring effective resolution to all quality issues.Ensure engineering improvements for process setups, material handling, storage, layouts, work cells, and any other functions that directly impact the performance of the production areas. Organization/Communication/Professionalism: Effectively communicate with co-workers and management personnel to enhance teamwork and communication initiatives. Assist with report key metrics and action plans to General Manager.Present key business information to production team employees.Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management.Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.Consistently adhere to, and support, company policies and procedures, including ISO, IATF 16949, and safety regulations.Accept instructions and duties in a positive manner.Treat all co-workers with dignity and respect.Exhibit all the attributes of a positive role model (including professionalism, personal integrity, and positive attitude) for employees and managers to emulateAssist in maintaining company values (Integrity, People, Customers, Safety, We Can IfDo What It Takes, and Ownership) daily, through thoughts and actions.
