Job Summary Operates company vehicles to pick-up and deliver product, materials, supplies and equipment as directed. Assures proper loading to protect cargo. Works with Shipping & Receiving/Dispatch in scheduling pick-ups and deliveries to meet maximum efficiencies of truck capabilities. Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities • Maintains daily log books and trip reports on each trip. Paperwork must be handed in at the end of each trip. • Maintain receipts for tolls, fuel, etc., for proper reimbursement. • Maintain fuel levels in all trucks. • Keeps current inspection reports and any maintenance needed on all vehicles. Reports defects to Dispatch. • Transports material to and from customers and does periodical checks to assure safe and orderly transportation of cargo. • Check load for safe transportation. Report problems to Shipping Team Leader. • Provides material handling of product, when necessary. • Works irregular/unusual hours when necessary. • Meets or exceeds schedule/job standards and quality requirements. • Reports any abnormal/unusual happenings or observations while in customer's plant. • Check with Dispatch as to weekly work times/days. • Proper strapping of product in truck. • Keeps current on all traffic rules and regulations and communicates with Dispatch when not meeting specific requirements. • Reports equipment irregularities and malfunctions to Dispatch. • Assists in going over truck schedule to minimize delays and maximize truck efficiencies. • Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed. Physical Requirements • Sitting in vehicle and driving for long periods of time. Education/Qualifications • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. • Valid Driver's License and Commercial Drivers License (CDL). • Safe Driving Record with an acceptable Number of Points • Truck Knowledge (24' Van and 53' Trailer with Tractor) • Ability to read, comprehend and write English on documents such as work orders, safety instructions and dispositions of parts. • Ability to speak English sufficiently to allow for adequate communications in emergencies and to allow for effective cooperation with team mates.
