Learning & Development Manager (Education)

The Learning & Development Manager ideates and creates memorable learning and development experiences for our diverse sets of customer and internal learners. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Learning & Development and is based in our corporate office located in Abingdon, Maryland.

About the job:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts learner and gap analyses in collaboration with internal teams to determine the best learning approaches for franchisees, Academy directors and Academy teachers.
  • Oversees the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) of learning experiences in varied formats (e-learning, classroom-based, virtual instructor-led, video, etc.); ensuring that each stage is IACET-compliant and uses designated templates and processes.
  • Updates existing learning design templates, such as design documents, storyboarding templates, and needs analysis question templates.
  • Maintains and improve existing library of learning content ensuring to align with IACET standards.
  • Manages the library of learning experiences for varied audiences within the Learning Management System.
  • Manages the SME content-gathering phase for creation of rich learning experiences.
  • Creates and delivers instruments for Level 1 and Level 2 Kirkpatrick assessments and evaluations.
  • Uses standard e-learning development tools (e.g., Articulate Rise/Storyline 360) to develop e-learning content and media content (e.g., Techsmith Camtasia, Vyond).
  • Other duties, as assigned.

About you:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related field required. 
  • 3 years of practical experience in designing experiences for adult learners (both training and design). 
  • Knowledge of and practical application of fundamental instructional design frameworks and models: ADDIE, Dick & Carey, Gagne, Kirkpatrick (or L-TEM), Bloom's Taxonomy, etc. 
  • Knowledge of and practical application of key concepts in Adult Learning Theory and motivation theories (ARCS, andragogy, etc.). 
  • Strong project management, organization, and written and oral communication skills. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related field 
  • APTD or CPTD certification from the Association for Talent Development 
  • 5 years of practical experience in designing experiences for adult learners (both training and design). 
  • Experience in the franchising industry or in early childhood education. 
  • Experience with designing for/maintaining a library of IACET-compliant learning experiences.
