Sr. Electronic Technician (Engineering)



Overview

Crestron is seeking an Sr. Electronics Technician to join our failure analysis engineering team in our state-of-the-art facility in Orangeburg NY, 10962. The Failure Analysis Engineering team investigates the underlying cause of product failure trends that lead to customer returns, field performance issues, and production failures. In this role, you will contribute to the root cause fault analysis of commercial grade electronic devices, with the goal of uncovering design, part, and manufacturing flaws. This is a great opportunity to use your electronics skill to make a meaningful difference to the product and the customer experience.

This role will work in conjunction with our engineering staff and will draw on your ability to troubleshoot digital and analog circuitry. With access to schematics, datasheets, part documentation, a wide variety of laboratory tools, and engineering support, the candidate should be comfortable analyzing a circuit down to component level to determine the root cause of product failure. The successful candidate will have proficiency using a wide range of troubleshooting tools, equipment and techniques.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in an electronic troubleshooting capacity within an electronics / technology organization. He or she will be a team player and will possess a passion for determining the root cause of a failure using all available resources, skills and techniques.

Responsibilities 

 

  • Performing in-depth troubleshooting down to component level on electronics products
  • Configuring bench test set-ups to duplicate fail modes ranging from audio, video, Ethernet/IP communications, power, etc.
  • Preparing detailed technical analysis reports that document the failure mode, diagnosis process, and root cause of an issue
  • Interpreting schematics, test reports, data sheets, product history, ECN's and customer case notes
  • Interfacing with various teams regarding product failures and failure analysis results
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications 
  • Associate's degree in Electronics or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience troubleshooting electronic assemblies down to the component level
  • Understanding of analog and digital circuits, including microprocessors and gate arrays
  • Experience with test equipment including DVMs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, etc.
  • Ability to solder / perform rework down to the SMT level
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Strong documentation skill is essential
  • Ability to execute tasks with minimum direction
