What you will do:
Working under the framework of Johnson Controls Continuous Improvement & Production system, will assess current state performance, identify gaps, visualize and establish a plan to get to the future state, monitor progress and share/acquire best-in-class ideas and systems. Defines, designs and implements process improvement as part of the Johnson Controls Manufacturing System (JCMS); ensures integration and alignment vertically and horizontally across organization. Defines improvement projects aligned with business strategies and priorities. Facilitates and coaches improvement teams. Establishes and maintains performance metrics to measure program success. Utilize Lean and change management methodologies and have appropriate levels of certification for the role. Support Plant Manager in the strategic direction and measurements to achieve business goals in safety, quality, delivery, cost and people development. Also support the daily operations by constraint management under the direction of plant leadership.
How you will do it:
Identify gaps in Best Business Practice Metrics (BBP's), and then work with all levels of the plant in establishing and executing a strategy for improving them.
Assess the Current state of the plant's Operations; Develop Future State vision and drive and monitor the implementation plan based on data and input from the area owners.
Collaborate with leadership to develop a plant C.I. Roadmap, driving breakthrough or Best-in-Class performance that balances resources between internal plant efficiency and external customer - focused effectiveness projects through 1. Just DO It improvements, 2. OHI projects, and 3. Lean Implementation projects.
Assist Plant Manager in any strategic initiative that will help in compliance to standards, implementing new systems, and designing creative solutions that will continuously improve the plant.
Ensures Process Owner involvement in standard work development and team leadership.
Supports individual develop plans and succession planning for all leadership positions, including supervision, transformation leaders and production leaders.
Coaches production team, including plant staff to apply correct approach lean tools for improvement.
Supports financial planning of projects and expense items looking for cost control opportunities and budget management.
Using standard tracking and reporting systems, will prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and assure timely completion and achievement of safety, product/process quality, on time delivery and savings goals.
Assists Process Owners in identifying barriers to project success and helps to drive changes when needed. Document improvement process learning and shares best practices with other Black Belts.
Is accountable to deliver the plant annual safety, quality, delivery, cost and people goals.
Responsible for driving safety performance within the plant to achieve the JCI gold safety status (goal: no recordables or lost time injuries). Perform safety observations/inspections as required.
Displays continuously the characteristics of a change leader in the organization.
Facilitates meetings with management to review and examine project progress.
What we look for
Required:
Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree (BS) or Manufacturing or relevant discipline from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
Five or more years of experience supporting manufacturing to improve methods and processes.
Project management skills able to manage / lead 5+ project simultaneously with a strong ability to complete projects accurately, within budget, and in a timely manner a plus.
Demonstrated change leader in safety culture, lean culture and process improvement.

Preferred:
Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing including leading Kaizen events.
Proficient with use of computer and software applications including Minitab, Microsoft project, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AutoCAD a plus.
Strong mechanical aptitude. Knowledge of Lean techniques. Lean and/or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
