The Director of Nursing assumes responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the Primrose community. In collaboration with the community Executive Director, allocates department resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psycho-social well-being. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the community.
The Director of Nursing is directly responsible to the Executive Director at the community level for the overall coordination and execution of nursing services and monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of nursing care. The Director of Nursing is indirectly responsible to their Regional Nurse Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS
Knowledge of current state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing in a assisted living setting. Has strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities. Demonstrates leadership skills in principles of team building, motivating others, and conflict management/resolution. Knowledge of Alzheimer's Disease, other dementias and related memory impairments is preferred. Basic knowledge of computer software and programs required, minimum working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.
Able to work primarily day hours with occasional varying hours. Able to share with other nurses, “call” time regarding resident care needs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Current, active registered nursing license in the state the community is located in. Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification per state regulations. Meet annual continuing education hours required for nursing license if applicable. Experience in a long term care or assisted living environment is preferred.
