Human Resources Generalist (Finance)



Department: Human Resources Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
Description:

The Human Resources Generalist provides support across various Human Resources functions, primarily in Compensation and Employment. This position requires a high level of independent judgment in providing a wide range of independent Human Resources support that includes, classification and compensation reviews, providing data, and oversight of new employee on-boarding.

Duties:
  • Evaluates positions for proper classification (exempt/non-exempt) and status within FLSA regulations and makes recommendations. Reviews descriptions for accuracy, makes recommendations, and drafts job descriptions as needed.
  • Provides guidance on processing of eFORMS including ePRFS and staff ePARS. Serves as final approver for all hire ePARS submitted including staff, faculty, temporary employees, and student hires. Delivers ePAR training to campus community as needed.
  • Conducts new employee on-boarding sessions and continually monitors new employees' hiring process to ensure timely on-boarding completion by creating new hire folders and ensuring newly hired employees complete the I-9 form. Serves as Employment back up including posting positions, answering questions, and initiating offers.
  • Responsible for participating and completing salary surveys, interpreting salary data, and performing analysis.
  • Responds to data requests including creating queries in PeopleSoft HRMS to extract employee and job data. Serves as final approver for HRIS access request forms.
  • Maintains on-boarding documents and assists with process improvements as well as makes recommendations for process improvement.
  • Manages content and updates to Compensation and Employment websites in coordination with HR Leadership and performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Management, or a related field.
  2. Minimum three years of Human Resources experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the employment and recruitment process, Compensation, and onboarding.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or other Human Resources related certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and efficient working relationships with employees at all levels of the University.
  • Ability to exemplify the desired culture of the Human Resources Office including the ability to work effectively as a team member with employees, management and the Human Resources staff.
  • Ability to complete assignments within specified deadlines accurately and efficiently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a pleasant and personable demeanor.
  • Must have a strong initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to meet competing deadlines under pressure while maintaining accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong follow through on commitments, using sound judgement with the ability to recognize and handle sensitive/confidential information.
