Front Desk Associate - Sea and Sand Inn (Finance)



JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the main lobby Reception Desk, breakfast lounge and overall security of the property. Works directly with the motel patrons for check-in, check-out, giving directions, taking messages, answering telephone calls and taking reservations. Cleans and maintains front office, kitchen and restroom.

UNIQUE JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Basic mathematical, computer and clerical skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a friendly and positive and professional manner. Will be required to work weekends and holidays. Willingness to conform to company grooming standards.

JOB TASKS (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
- Greet motel guests.
- Count cash drawer at the beginning and ending of each shift.
- Register motel guests and assign appropriate room.
- Accept payment for hotel rooms and other charges and perform cash transactions.
- Enter guest information, payment source into a computerized database program.
- Answer multiline phone and takes accurate messages.
- Take telephone reservations as required.
- Prepare food, cuts up fruit and bakes muffins for continental breakfast.
- Operate washer / dryer and folds and stacks towels.
- Mop, vacuum, remove trash and shampoo carpet for front office, kitchen and restroom.
- Other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS INTERNAL:
Manager of Lodging Operations, Front Desk Supervisor, Room Attendants, Guest Service Representatives, Security department and may have contact with all levels of Santa Cruz Seaside Company employees.

RELATIONSHIPS EXTERNAL:
Extensive contact with guests.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Prior cash handling, hotel/motel front desk, service oriented business and/or computer experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to meet and greet the public in a positive and friendly manner and resolve guest complaints satisfactorily.
- Ability to work alone and stay awake and alert while on duty. (11 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on graveyard shift).
- Ability to deal tactfully with problems and complaints (loud parties etc.) using independent judgment, common sense and without offending guests.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply clerical office procedures and to keep complete and accurate records.
- Ability to operate multiline telephone console, do light typing and operate 10-key calculator.
- Ability to recognize and report any unusual or suspicious conditions or circumstances.
- Ability to input and access data using a computer.
- Ability to balance audit to payments on a computer.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for up to 7 and one-half hours.
- Ability to work in a confined space with limited access.
- Ability to lift, drag or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to hear normal conversations on the phone and in person.
- Ability to see, read and interpret documents and paperwork.

TESTING UPON HIRE:
Criminal background check, drug test and back exam.
