This is a Full-Time, Monday through Friday position, working 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, based in our Hospice office.
The Billing Coordinator is responsible for managing accurate, timely completion and submission of the billing, collections, and accounts receivable functions of the organization. A critical component of this role is to demonstrate the agency's culture of compassion, accountability, and results by displaying the highest standards of integrity, superb follow-through, consistency, first rate customer service and exceptional client satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. Other duties may be assigned.
Primary duties
Demonstrates support for the agency's mission statement to promote quality, efficient,
comprehensive, and effective patient services.
Accurately processes and bills Medicare, Medicaid, private payers and patient claims in accordance with payer requirements and organizational policy.
Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of government billing regulations including Medicare and Medicaid regulations and serves as a resource for organizational personnel.
Monitors, both timely and routinely, aged accounts receivables and resubmits bills to overdue accounts, submits seriously overdue accounts to collection agencies for collection, and prepares bad debt reports for the Homeland at Home Director of Finance & Operations.
Maintains ongoing accurate documentation of outstanding receivables.
Verifies accuracy of patient insurance information in EMR.
Communicates directly with insurance(s) to determine benefits and assure timely reimbursement of services.
Runs and analyzes all billing reports and works with agency personnel to resolve billing issues. Interacts timely with EMR vendor to resolve unclear billing issues as needed.
Verifies all services are billed timely by comparing billing reports to census reports.
Routinely checks for Medicare ADR's and assists in the printing of documentation requested.
Participates in the appeal process for denied claims.
Scan all mail into the Hospice Billing Drive.
Post all payments to payment log and send working cash receipt reports to Homeland Center Accounting Department.
Open, sort and post all patient payments to individual patient record in EMR.
Post electronic payments to open receivables in to EMR.
Gathers, collates, and reports key billing information to the Homeland at Home Director of Finance & Operations and the Hospice Director.
Alerts appropriate team members regarding late or missing documents required for billing.
Performs insurance verification and authorization when required.
Assists with accurate and timely completion, submission and follow up of:
Notice of Elections (NOEs)
Hospice Item Set (HISs)
Audit & cost reports
Always maintains the confidentiality of patient and organization information.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with patients, payers, and other customers.
Participates in the maintenance of workplace safety.
Participates in performance improvement activities, as needed, and assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Homeland at Home Director of Finance & Operations and the Hospice Director.
Resource Utilization
Assure proper maintenance of records per agency guidelines.
Maintains regular attendance.
Functions independently but seeks and accepts guidance from the Homeland at Home Director of Finance & Operations and the Hospice Director.
Complies with local, state and federal laws and agency policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education/ Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficient computer skills in business applications.
Possess strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with diverse populations.
Ability to apply problem-solving techniques to assigned duties.
Ability to multi-task effectively.
Ability to collect, interpret, and/ or analyze complex data and information.
Experience
Minimum age requirement of 18 with high school diploma or GED.
Minimum of one (1) year of home care/ home health billing experience.
Licensure, Registration, and Certification
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation that is insured in accordance with Pennsylvania state requirements.
Medical Billing Certification (preferred)
Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers.
Satisfactory criminal background check.
Access to reliable internet access outside of the work setting.
