Responsibilities
Ensuring that the bakery is adequately stocked with quality baking ingredients and suppliesEnsuring that baking tools, utensils, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitizedCreating suitable work schedules for staff membersAppraising staff performance and carrying out the necessary disciplinary measures to address poor performanceTraining staff to produce high-quality bakery items while following proper food handling proceduresFollowing department plan and merchandising to correctly place and market bakery items in display casesInspecting bakery items to ensure that established standards on quality, uniformity, and aesthetic appeal are metResolving customer complaints in a professional mannerOther duties and functions as assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalentAssociate's degree in culinary arts or baking and pastry arts is preferredMust have thorough understanding and in depth baking skills for cakes, pastries, specialty items and all baked goods within a bakeryProven experience managing a bakery or similar industry.Must have an active and unexpired food handler's licenseSound knowledge of different baking techniques.The ability to work under pressure.Outstanding problem-solving skills and management skills are a mustEffective communication and customer service skillsMust be computer literate and comfortable with using a calculator with the knowledge of basic math

Working Conditions
Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
