Development Assistant, Planned Giving (Marketing)

Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

PBS is the most trusted source of media in the United States carrying the local, national and international news that audiences rely on. 

The Development Division is responsible for raising funds from individuals and institutions. It plays a vital role in helping to finance broadcast, video, digital, and audio programs, including celebrated dramas, investigative journalism, documentaries, children's media, podcasts, and other local and national programming in the public media system.

JOB OVERVIEW

GBH is seeking a Development Assistant, Planned Giving to support its Gift Planning and Endowment (GP&E) team. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about supporting meaningful donor engagement. As a key administrative partner, the Development Assistant helps ensure the smooth operation of planned giving activities, including

estate tracking, donor communications, and event logistics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Estate & Gift Support: Track estate gifts, maintain records, and assist with documentation and correspondence related to charitable gift annuities (CGAs) and other planned giving vehicles.

  • Donor Communications: Serve as the first point of contact for donor inquiries, provide PBS technical assistance, and support donor education efforts.

  • Marketing & Outreach: Help produce donor communications, manage mailing lists, and assist with website updates and digital campaigns.

  • Gift Processing & Acknowledgment: Prepare thank-you letters, maintain donor data, and support gift processing in collaboration with the Advancement Operations team.

  • Event Coordination: Assist with planning and logistics for donor events, including invitations, RSVPs, and day-of support.

  • Team Support: Maintain organized files, prepare reports and presentations, and provide general administrative support to the GP&E team.

SKILL SET

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with donor databases a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.

  • Comfort handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. 0-2 years of experience in nonprofit administration, fundraising, or donor relations.
