CNC Machinist (Project Management)



The Machinist at General Stamping & Metalworks is charged with the responsibility of productively performing subtractive manufacturing processes to produce high quality production parts, machine components and tooling on machining centers.

This job description is intended to be an overview of primary responsibilities for this position. All employees are charged with providing assistance in generally similar duties when management deems it necessary. Special projects and activities may also be created where employees talents can best be utilized. In addition, General Stamping & Metalworks is a growing organization responding to an ever changing market It is expected that tasks and requirements will change from time to time and employees will be asked to respond as needed and within reason.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Machinist is to productively produce high quality parts on GSM machining centers. The standard for all equipment and tools used at GSM is that they perform as if they are new. Therefore it is expected that all Machinists participate in maintaining equipment, tools and their work environment. The Machinist will participate to perform to the objectives set for the department as well as:
Safely execute job responsibilities using proper PPEMeasuring precision tolerances using a variety of measurement devicesBlue print readingProgramming at the machine controlSetup and operate mechanical and CNC machining centers to production standardsReading job travelers and complying with work instructionsMachine tooling fixtures, dies, molds and parts to print specificationsCollecting product inspection results as required by inspection standardsEntering data to accurately complete transactionsParticipating in continuous improvement initiatives and projectsCommunicating and maintaining the safety, quality and cleanliness standards set for the department
Qualifications and Competencies

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess excellent manufacturing skills, be able to produce parts free of defects, be a dependable member of our team, and maintain an optimistic and supportive attitude. The individual will also maintain competency with the following programs and equipment:

Education
Minimum High School Diploma or GEDVMC or CNC Technical Training (Preferred)
Experience
12 months related experience
