Skilled Surgical Instrument Maker (Finance)



Hand-finishing manufacturing of surgical instruments, specifically bipolar forceps.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Finish surgical instruments under a microscope using trade skills such as filing, bending, polishing, and other advanced metalworking techniques to consistently meet or exceed the established quality standards for form, fit, and function
  • Shape forceps tips using files and polishing wheels to match the master samples
  • Use of measurement tools, including calipers, micrometer, and various gauges, to accurately adhere to tolerances as low as +/-.002"
  • Read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Collaborate with coworkers, including QC, Product Management/Planning, Engineering, and Packaging Departments
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping of outputs, scrap, and
  • Accept and rework rejections from Quality Control
  • Maintain workflow pattern by following established 5S and Lean Manufacturing procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing environment
  • Preferred surgical instrument manufacturing experience
  • Experience with general manufacturing processes
  • Assessment of skills will be part of the training process
  • Ability to follow verbal and written manufacturing procedures
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts relating to fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Relies on experience, education, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent general knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite software, including an expert level in Microsoft Excel. Excellent knowledge of the SAP MRP system is a prerequisite. Knowledge of Visual Basic and Access is a plus. Ability to conduct thorough Internet research.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Occasional weekends for production and business needs.
