POSITION SUMMARY

Mobile Data Technologies is seeking an Electronics Field Service Technicianto keep pace with expanding sales and product development. Reporting to the Support Supervisor, the successful candidate will provide field and technical support for the electronic products produced by the company
 

Key Accountabilities

• Provides technical support to our customers through telephone, email, and remote access
• Manages tickets, cases, and service trips within CRM (Customer Relations Manager)
• Provides field support for MDT Install and Commissions
• Field Support on MDT products – troubleshooting, root cause analysis (includes travel)
• Configures and tests communication equipment such as LAN/WIFI networks, cell modems, and radio modems
• Tests and calibrates completed products after repair
• Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance
• After Hours of an on-call rotation for customer support
• After Hours on service rotation during weekends
• Interacts and coordinates effectively with all other company departments
• Develops, supports, and executes internal training programs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to follow General Assembly drawings
• Ability to read and understand schematics and electrical documents
• Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot and solve problems
• Electrical/electronic background would be an asset
• Computer literacy is essential for the role, so candidates will need to be experienced with Windows XP/7/10 and Microsoft Office 2007/2013 (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote)
• Computer programming background would be an asset (C#, C++, JSON, REST JAVA)
• Knowledge with relational databases and/or time series databases would be an asset (mySQL, Big Query, Influx)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to relate effectively with all disciplines at all levels of the company
• Motivated self-starter who can manage their time effectively
• Personal growth potential that can keep pace with the expanding needs of the company and the business

Minimum Required Education

• G.E.D. or H.S. Diploma - Required

Minimum Required Experience

• Minimum of 5 years experience in the electrical field, oil and gas industry that includes installation, maintenance and/or repair

Licenses and Certifications

• Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license. - Required
• License to drive commercial vehicles. - Preferred
