Director, Digital Operations Technology (Biotech)

The Director of Digital Operations Technology is responsible for developing a strategic vision and execution plan to support the Bioscience strategy. The role will provide strategic direction to cross-functional stakeholders to understand how operations technology plays a larger role is delivering against key customer needs. This materializes through the execution of key projects associated with core systems including ERP (SAP), production (MES, eBR), and quality systems (LIMS).

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic initiatives to improve manufacturing, supply chain, and quality operations by reducing complexity, ensuring discipline, and eliminating process waste
  • Develop, implement, and drive OT strategy roadmap to support operational efficiency and commercial objectives
  • Provide strategic and tactical management guidance as a key liaison between manufacturing, quality and management in relation to process automation and information technology systems
  • Development and /or management of processes including: technology deployment stage gate reviews, communications for technology change management, solution architecture governance, and cross-functional integrated planning
  • Maintain repository of technology roadmaps, deployments and their impact
  • Communicate performance against plan to Bioscience leadership team and provide strategic direction on course corrections when necessary
  • Perform other duties as required

Key requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in an FDA regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, with emphasis on SAP, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) systems,  Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), and/or Enterprise Document Management (EDM) systems
  • 6+ years of people management experience
  • Strong knowledge of technology management including enterprise system deployment
  • Exceptional structured thinking, quantitative and communication skills including the development of executive-ready presentations and communications
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with a proven track record of working cross-functionally with technologists and business leaders to ensure alignment
  • Proactive and adaptive mindset with the willingness to take on new challenges and intrinsic curiosity to learn and develop expertise in new areas
  • Clear and succinct written and verbal communication is strongly preferred
