RESIDENTIAL ASSISTANT MANAGER (Finance)

Assumes Residential Manager duties while on shift and/or when Residential Manager is absent, including serving as the "facility manager" per Community Care Licensing (CCL) regulations.
Assumes responsibility for every aspect of daily operations during assigned shifts.
Provides leadership, including serving as Residential Supervisor is absent.
Supports the assigned Residential Supervisor to ensure that the youth are well cared for and all key documentation, communication, organizing tasks are completed.
Assists in recruitment, hiring, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff,
Assists with coaching, training and developing staff to ensure competencies required for the position are met and maintained.
Manages staff performance by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, providing feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.
Develops, trains, and ensures competence of staff to interventions being used and required skills to partner with participants and families, including how to implement the behavioral and activity portions of participants' treatment plans.
Providing Services
Provides direct service when needed, adhering to the competencies as described in the Residential Youth Counselor job description
Assists in planning and implementing age-appropriate recreational, skills building and community integration
Assists in the development and implementation of positive behavioral interventions and in the implementation of individualized interventions to meet treatment plan
Coordinates and may provide transportation for participants to any off-site activities, medical appointments, or individual/family therapy as
Assists with medication administration and monitors participant and staff's adherence to medication protocols.
Facilitates the welcoming and orientation of new participants into program.
Serves as a liaison for on-site program staff to weekend/after hours On Call staff, as needed.
Delivers services with an awareness and integration of the developmental milestones of children, youth, or young adults, including those impacted by trauma.
Ensures program staff effectively communicate safety risks for youth and adhere to individualized safety plans for each youth
Utilizes de-escalation techniques, including but not limited to: attentiveness to potential triggers/stressors and early indicators of distress; motivational interviewing; reflective listening; providing responses that rely on engagement and empathy; modeling composure through use of calm voice and neutral facial expressions; remaining self-aware of verbal and non-verbal communication, demonstrated ability to adjust verbal and non-verbal communication, prompting for use of known coping skills; etc., to defuse distress and ensure safety in a manner that aligns with the trauma informed care model.
Responds to participant/family or outside provider complaints and suggestions in accordance with agency policy.
Documenting
Ensures supervisees meet all service documentation and incident reporting standards.
Checks incident reports written by supervisees, to ensure the reports are written in compliance with agency policy.
Ensures timely completion of performance evaluations.
Utilizes technology (i.e., Electronic Health Record, timekeeping system), effectively to complete documentation including collection and reporting of program activities and employee time and attendance reporting.
Completes notes in participant records, house logs, and incident reports.
Assists with the completion of accounting records of distribution of house funds, allowances, and any other funds for participants.
Planning and Organizing
Assists in assigning and tracking trainings for Residential Youth Counselors to ensure all residential staff meet their training compliance.
Provides input on policies/procedures upon request.
As assigned, organizes, plans, and executes program projects or improvements to achieve desired results for program.
Managing Resources
Oversees and manages purchasing by the Home Services Coordinator to ensure purchase are necessary and cost-effective.
Assists with coordinating and managing staff schedules to ensure participant care and limit unnecessary overtime.
Interfaces effectively with Support Services departments (IT, Facilities, Training, Data, Quality Assurance, etc.) to ensure facilities are well-kept and that necessary technology and equipment are available to staff when needed.
Completes house inspections, organizes/initiates drills, and serves as Safety Captain as assigned; addresses and reports any unsatisfactory conditions in the care and upkeep of the house to the Residential Manager and/or Maintenance/Facilities staff; may assist in ensuring that Facilities staff complete identified repairs.
Working with Others
Acts as a liaison with and builds positive collaborative partnerships with families, visitors, outside service providers, funders, and other relevant governmental agencies in assuring that staff remain responsive to their needs. May assist with communicating to external members of the treatment team (e.g., TBS workers).
Communicates clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with co-workers, supervisors, supervisees, and participants.
Comprehends, follows, and clearly conveys instructions to others.
Intentionally considers the mode, timing, frequency, method, context, and amount of information to offer to others.
Qualifications:
Required
A. or B.S. Degree, preferably in social work, psychology, counseling, or related human services field, or equivalent work experience in a residential setting or working with the population served.
Minimum of one (1) year experience hiring, evaluating, and supervising staff.
Demonstrated understanding of the developmental milestones of children or youth to provide care, treatment, and services.
Demonstrated cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities.
Demonstrated ability to utilize de-escalation techniques that align with the trauma informed care model as part of intervention strategy for working with participants in crisis who are responding to triggers/stressors and/or demonstrating early indicators of distress.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills and making sound decisions in crisis situations.
Clean driving record, current CA Driver's License, or ability to obtain within 10 days after hire.
Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and/or competency with electronic clinical documentation systems.
Preferred
Experience with or knowledge of designing, supervising, monitoring, changing, and discontinuing individualized behavioral health interventions.
Two (2) or more years' experience with program target population preferred (example: intellectually disabled, homeless, teens or young adults, emotionally disturbed)
Two (2) or more years' experience with residential/milieu or wraparound program modality
Demonstrated ability to assess, triage, plan, and organize work and respond effectively to crises.
Demonstrated usage of a strength-based, culturally responsive approach to supervision and participant care.
Experience with relevant evidence-based practices (e.g., ARC or other trauma-informed approaches).

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment can, at times, be loud but is, always, maintained within safe California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CAL/OSHA) standards.
Communication
Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information or detailed spoken instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Must be able to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (i.e., alarms, etc.).
Physical Activities
Must have visual acuity to view a computer terminal; to perform activities such as preparing reports, analyzing data; and to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.
Must be computer proficient and be able to work on a computer for up to 20 hours per week.
Must be able to move in and out of the offices, the buildings, and the Coolidge Campus, if working in N. CA.
Must be able to handle or manipulate objects, tools, and operate controls.
Must be able to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
Must able to reach for stacked items, store and retrieve file boxes.
Must be able to bend, push, pull, lift and/or carry as much as 25 lbs., and walk up to a mile at one time.
Must be able to occasionally travel for trainings, if required.
Must be licensed and have the ability and skill to drive cars, vans, or other vehicles.
Possesses the ability to actively participate in and supervise youth's recreational activities, including noncompetitive sports.
Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies, and to learn and implement Pro-ACT techniques (or other agency approved crisis de-escalation training).
Must be able to physically monitor participants to ensure they do not hurt themselves or others.
