Overnight Youth Specialist - Iowa Homeless Youth Centers (IHYC) (Finance)
A High School Diploma/equivalent is required.
One year of experience in the human services field is required.

What you will do:
Clean out office duplex every shift. Clean out recently vacated duplex units and get a duplex unit prepared by doing laundry and making beds.
Assist youth who are not eligible for program services in finding suitable resources.
Provide program information to potential clients, parents, referral sources, and other groups, both in-person and over the phone, as needed.
Relate to clients in a caring, supportive manner, while enforcing program rules and guidelines consistently, firmly, and fairly.
Oversee client activities such as chores, curfew, bedtime, wake-up, and personal hygiene being aware of clients' presence and behavior at all times.
Monitor client guests' actions, and ask them to leave if needed.
Assist clients in meeting basic needs such as food, clothing, bedding, personal care products, transportation, and safety taking youth to outside sources to meet these needs, if necessary.
Conduct urinalysis tests as needed, is aware of clients' behavior, and handles possible usage appropriately.
Conduct room searches, if needed, to ensure that there are no weapons or illegal substances in the facility.
Alert on-call staff of major incidents or emergencies.
Conduct emergency bed intakes as needed.
Attend to clients' medical needs, dispense medication, and complete all necessary documentation.
Inspect facility for maintenance problems and report issues to Associate Director that cannot be resolved.
Ensure safety, cleanliness, and appearance of the facility and complete the Overnight shift responsibility checklist nightly before going to sleep.
Assist with inventory of household supplies, personal care products, and food items ordering Food Bank supplies as needed.
Work with clients on life skills such as cooking, laundry, grocery shopping, budgeting, interpersonal relationships, personal hygiene, anger management, self-esteem, social skills, problem-solving, job hunting, transportation, and leisure activities.
Work with clients to ensure that they complete paperwork such as DHS application, Living Skills Assessment, Daniel Memorial, etc., as requested by the Lighthouse TLP Coordinator.
Complete all necessary logging, shift reports, and other documentation.
Attend all training and meetings.
Provide phone and receptionist support during non-office hours. Make sure that while sleeping the phone is near and present.
Other duties as assigned.
Compensation:
$14 an hour
