About the Role
This position involves all aspects of Field Operations including but not limited to Service, Repair, Construction and Modernization. By supporting MEI's Strategic Winning Aspiration and executing the documented strategy in Field Operations, this position will ensure a safe, enjoyable work environment, provide great customer experiences, and deliver targeted profitable growth.

Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Field Supervision

Prioritize the safety and well-being of all employees under your supervision.
Lead, coordinate, manage, and train crews and service technicians to ensure efficient completion of jobs and service stops within allotted timeframes.
Continuously assess the talent and capabilities of mechanics and apprentices on jobsites.
Support the development of field staff by providing guidance and high-level troubleshooting assistance.
Participate in self-development activities to enhance job performance through formal (classes, seminars) or informal (reading, networking) methods.
Actively support MEI's "Strategic Winning Aspirations" and Field Operations Strategy.

Project & Operations Management

Manage each repair, modernization, and new construction project according to labor and schedule requirements.
Maintain crew schedules and adjust manpower based on project backlog and job needs.
Ensure timely procurement of materials based on site surveys to meet project deadlines.
Monitor job progress, start dates, and material shipments in coordination with customers and on-site contractors.
Establish contingency plans for projects falling behind schedule.
Apply for or assist with necessary permits and schedule required inspections.

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

Represent MEI in meetings with owners, contractors, and architects as needed.
Field calls from jobsites, customers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
Respond to customer trouble calls and dispatch appropriate service personnel.
Assist sales staff with estimating, customer inquiries, and issue resolution.
Support the Sales Team with material lists, logistics planning, and survey participation for bids and proposals.

Administrative & Compliance Oversight

Monitor and approve timecards, service tickets, and other cloud-based field reporting tools.
Log, track, and follow up on all daily trouble calls in the company system.
Participate in monthly revenue recognition meetings with Accounting.
Maintain accurate inventory of tools and equipment using asset tags and tracking spreadsheets.
Track safety inspections for equipment such as hoisting and rigging tools.
Ensure all field personnel comply with safety training and participate in cost-saving initiatives.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.

Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Support

Support MEI's focus on quality and innovation by collaborating with R&D, Product Support, and Engineering teams.
Actively participate in the MEI I-Power and Continuous Improvement Programs, including weekly meetings and idea submissions.
Occasionally travel outside your territory to support and collaborate with other Field Operations branches.
Continuously strive for error-free project execution to enhance customer satisfaction and profitability.

Essential Position Responsibilities by Area
Service

Monitor individual service account profitability; manage estimated vs. actual service hours.
Reorganize service routes as needed for optimal efficiency.
Complete or assist with maintenance contracts, bids, and site surveys.
Perform routine field audits on service routes.

Repair, Modernization, and New Construction

Conduct or assist with site surveys to ensure accurate equipment ordering.
Coordinate job schedules, material shipments, and inspections with customers and contractors.
Make real-time decisions on-site regarding labor and materials, communicating updates to account managers.
Coordinate related project work with contractors and site contacts.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience: Over 5 years of hands-on experience in the elevator industry, with specialization in modernization, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Project Management: Proven experience managing field teams, schedules, and budgets across multiple job types.
Technical Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); technical aptitude and understanding of value engineering preferred.
Education: 4-year degree with 5+ years of management experience or valid elevator mechanic license with 5+ years of field experience.
Certifications: OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports and effectively communicate with customers and teams.
Math Skills: Proficiency in percentages, geometry, algebra, and applied calculations.
Reasoning: Strong problem-solving ability with adaptability to non-standard situations.
Construction Knowledge: Ability to interpret architectural plans, specifications, and takeoffs.

PC literate; ability to learn and leverage digital field tools.

Physical Demands
Position requires approximately 50% sitting and 50% walking. The ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel is required. Position requires the ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch on an occasional basis. Also, the position requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words on a consistent basis. Also, the position requires clear vision at 20 inches or less, clear vision at 20 feet or more, the ability to identify and distinguish colors, the ability to observe and area that can be seen up and down or left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus. The ability to lift 30 pounds on an occasional basis is required. Job holder is exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions and extreme heat on an occasional basis. Position is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and there is risk of potential electrical shock. Position is exposed to moderate noise.
