YOUR ROLE
- Manages all operations at factory level to ensure efficient production and high quality products
- Delivers against plant performance KPIs, budget and projects Sets up and executes development plans for plant personnel
- Ensures operations processes and solutions are implemented according to global procedures and local regulations
- Assign and supervise the daily activities of the Shipping Department; supervise the work of packers in all job responsibilities; perform evaluations and counseling as needed; motivates employees to perform at the highest potential.
- Manage workload to complete necessary work within the month/year to help meet budgeted sales goals.
- Ensure customer orders are picked/packed correctly and have proper shipping papers. This will include performing back-orders.
- Schedule the daily shipments with truckload and less-than-truckload carriers to meet shipping objectives and customer requirements.
- Purchase/order required shipping resources for the department (pallets, packing filler, tape, packing slips, etc.)
- Ensure all internal manufacturing requests are fulfilled in a timely fashion.
- Resolves labor shortages for shipping by coordinating with other department supervisors for additional support.
- Ensure the overall cleanliness, organization, and security of the shipping area; conduct a nightly check at the shift end to ensure doors are locked and lights are out (as applicable).
- Responsible for assisting Darien personnel in resolving customer complaints and problems resulting from mis-shipped orders.
- Many times, this function will require direct communication with customers and arranging special order shipments to resolve these complaints.
- Communicate daily with personnel from Distributor Support, Sales, Marketing, Planning, Manufacturing and customers to expedite and resolve problems relating to customer orders.
- Updates procedure and personnel training necessary to maintain ISO 9001 certification.
- Assign and supervise the daily activities of the Shipping Department; supervise the work of packers in all job responsibilities; perform evaluations and counseling as needed; motivates employees to perform at the highest potential.
- Schedule the daily shipments with truckload and less-than-truckload carriers to meet shipping objectives and customer requirements
- All other duties as assigned.
YOUR SKILLS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Strong computer skills are required, and experience with a Warehouse Management System is preferred.
- Ability/desire to collect and analyze data in support of project related activities.
- Excellent communication skills a must.
- Related shipping experience with supervisory skills preferred.
- The position is in the factory and could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 70 pounds.
- No restrictions for reaching, bending, stooping or lifting.
