Quality Technician 1st Shift M-F (Finance)
Department: Quality Auditor Shift: M-F 8 hours
Reports To: Quality Manager Location: Columbus
General Summary:
The purpose of this position is to ensure that products being manufactured meet the Engineering Specifications and Customer Requirements/Expectations. The QA Auditor is expected to work with Manufacturing and Engineering to assure that the appropriate quality tools are provided and are being properly utilized at each work center. The QA Auditor must understand and be able to properly communicate Customer Quality Expectations and Concerns to all Manufacturing Associates in a friendly, courteous, cooperative, and professional manner. The QA Auditor is expected to perform their duties in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to their Supervisor, or the Operations Manager. All work areas should be maintained in a clean and efficient manner. The QA Auditor may periodically work in other work assignments, other shifts, and work overtime and/or weekends to assist with coverage and unusual circumstances. The QA Auditor is responsible for maintaining the requirements of the Quality Management System as defined in the Flambeau Inc., Quality Manual and supporting documentation, or as assigned by the Quality Manager. There may be other duties and responsibilities expected that are too numerous and varied to describe in this format.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Accurately perform and document dimensional measurements of parts using applicable equipment. Analyze parts to evaluate them for visual/appearance defects Conduct and document outbound dock audits. Conduct and document warehouse quality audits. Process all receiving inspection of materials and components from suppliers. Assist with training for quality related activities, as necessary. Process Returns from customers and initiate the RMA process Process all automotive inspections and quality work for shipment if applicable. Acceptable attendance record. Back up to floor quality auditor if needed. Any other duties necessary to support the quality function as assigned by the Quality Manager. Process thru Work Order damage parts in the DC. Walk DC and pull damage and safety NC parts and skids, process per company policy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting, standing or walking for periods of up to four hours at a time. Reaching, feeling, handling or grasping and detecting part inconsistencies and variances by sight and touch. Accurately distinguish colors and shades of colors. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling 40 pounds or less. Twisting and turning to gain access to containers and packing crates. Ability to travel to and from QA lab and shop floor work centers.
ENVIRONMENTAL & WORKING CONDITIONS
Inside offices, labs, warehouses, and manufacturing plants. Various environments considered.
EQUIPMENT USED
Dial, digital, manual calipers. Melt Flow Indexer. Custom gages, gage pins, leak testers, and fixtures, both Customer supplied and Flambeau Inc. supplied. Computer (Outlook, Word, Excel). Personal protective equipment as required.
Education and Skill Requirements:
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Effective communication - oral and written. Must be fluent in English. Must be able to send and receive e-mail. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of personnel. Must understand and follow work rules. Ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to make proper decisions, given information that is available. Ability to read basic part drawings, and/or blue prints. Ability to read and understand Control Plans, Operator Quality Requirements (OQRs), Inspection Test Reports (ITRs), and Quality Alerts. Ability to understand and follow all company work rules, policies, procedures and guidelines..
