What you will do: 

In this role you will be a part of a collaborative team of product managers that support the on-going needs of a packaged unitary, HVAC rooftop portfolio of product.   Most days you will be working with functional groups, ranging from engineering to manufacturing and various product support groups to maintain existing business while simultaneously doing work to define the future portfolio of products.  

How you will do it: 

Drive for Business Results

  • Manage reporting process for planning and sales financials related to product family.

  • Regularly communicate with the factory and or third-party supplier regarding product profitability and sales performance

  • Work with marketing and sales to participate in trade shows and provide sales support including training as needed.

Deliver Results through People & Communication

  • Act to gain support and commitment before decision making activities.

  • Build long-term relationships with customers and stakeholders.

  • Provide assistance in closing sales, as appropriate.

  • Express positive expectations of others

  • Strong strategic communicator and can speak to and for the business and can represent the organization for companywide goals and initiatives.

Ensure Market Driven Direction

  • Identify and utilize market demographics in strategy development.

  • Continually look for future possibilities and trends

  • Establish network among sales force and analysts to develop on going stream of competitive information\

  • Expert knowledge of customers, agency requirements, vertical markets and competitive expertise

Guide Product Fit and Function

  • Understands and can defend to a knowledgeable customer the differences in the technologies of assigned products, as well as those of competitive products.

  • Expert in product and operational issues and their applications

  • Can leverage processes (QC, manufacturing, pricing, sales, purchasing, etc.) to deliver specific business outcomes.

  • Define product road maps and wins acceptance of roadmaps that define the evolution of a product line.

  • Exercises knowledge of business requirements related to BE strategic plan.

  • Recommends product and system solutions and provides feedback to product management leadership.

Manage Multiple Priorities

  • Prioritize activities based on an awareness of the overall business goals.

  • Define and drive new product development projects.

Manage 3rd Party/Branded Product Offerings

  • Deliver, through our supplier, a roadmap which supports our vision.

  • Be an advocate for change by looking for further advancement in technologies which reduce our total costs while adding differentiated features.

  • Identify cost savings (VA/VE) opportunities to be implemented by our supplier.

  • Deliver through supply chain our 3rd party PDP processes for product advancements.

What we look for: 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business – MBA preferred.

  • 10 years HVAC equipment related experience in application, product management, and field sales is required.

  • Must have demonstrable business management skills in a product management environment and must be technically savvy, possessing strong knowledge of field and business practices relating to the identified products.

  • Experience with Financial Statements

  • Ability to travel 20%

About the Manager:

My name is Philip Smyth. I've been working in Product Management of HVAC products for over 30 years and 20 years with unitary and ductless products. My experience includes sales, international, new product development and introduction as well as product optimization and obsolescence. My interests revolve around maximizing revenue and profitability by developing and launching products that meet customer needs and are innovative. If you consider this role, we will work together to deliver and execute a product/program roadmap designed to maximize the profitable JCI share of market for rooftops. Expect to be challenged in this role to devise solutions that leverage regulatory hurdles to deliver innovative products and selling tools. As a leader, I'm focused on partnering with Product Managers to grow the business profitability and revenue.

I value candidates with strong work ethic and a growth mindset who will be creative, proactive, and detail-oriented in their work.
