We are searching for a motivated & experienced The Packing Supervisor is responsible for monitoring productivity, quality of products and motivating the staff to improve the morale in the packing department. Coordinate activities of packers and Lead Packers engaged in packing or wrapping dough products to protect them from damage during storage or shipment. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.Interprets job orders to workers and assigns duties.Establishes or adjusts work process to meet production schedules.Operates and sets up packaging equipment and conveyor systems to ensure all products fit spec sheet for bagging and packaging.Confers with other department supervisors to ascertain type, quantity and packing requirements, coordinates activities with other departments.Coordinates with shipping and receiving the supply of all packaging materials into the packing department.Rotates workers at different intervals to maintain uniformity to workers.Assigns tasks according to work schedules and assigns breaks and lunch periods.Inspects products prior to packing and places rejected products aside.Inspects product to insure conformance to quality standards and reports any problems to the Shift Assistant Manager; such as lengths, shape and cuts.Inspects freezer temperatures and packaging equipment in conformance with specifications.Observes packing and wrapping operations to verify conformance to specifications.Inspects equipment and ensures that all safety rules are followed.Must know all emergency stops on all lines.Removes samples at different intervals for quality control inspection.Inspects the product being packed with special arrangements.Ensures that the proper labels are being placed on the boxes in the designated area.Must be familiar with the end of run marker procedure and be able to coordinate the change of product markers along with the paperwork.Identifies issues affecting efficiencies and Recommends measures to improve packing methods and quality of product.Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.Trains and leads new employees on the packing lines according to company specifications.Identify ways to motivate workers to achieve work goals.Alerts Shift Assistant Manager of complications and situations that may arise.Maintains time and packing records.Maintains a daily activity report.Reports scrap and waste accumulation and ensure the correct disposition of scrap.Identify and reports any machine malfunctions.Completes attendance reports, evaluates performance of his/her team and coaches associates on a regular basisLead, mentor and supervise others to generate expected results.Reviews safety issues with Shift Assistant Manager and Director of Manufacturing.Interfaces with Quality Control to maintain product quality standards.Reviews and interprets established production KPIs (Key performance indicators) with the Shift Assistant Manager and Director of Manufacturing in relation to any scrap and waste for each individual line.Writes analyses and reviews of employees they supervise.Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.Contributes to the continuous improvement culture. In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations and all lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA requirements.As an employee you must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Formal training is not required, but in house Food Safety Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION: Minimum of High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3-5 years Supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment. Food Manufacturing experience a plus. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. He/she must be able to identify and analyze constraint processes and implement solutions.
