Community Leadership Academy (CLA), a high-performing public charter school located just 15 minutes north of downtown Denver, is looking for dedicated upper elementary teachers (5th grade) who are excited about the challenge of helping students bridge foundational skills to higher-level thinking. For over a decade, CLA has proudly maintained a top performance rating—thanks to our incredible teachers and unwavering commitment to student growth. If you believe in equity, high expectations, and unlocking the full potential of every learner, we'd love to have you on our team.

Why CLA?

At CLA, you'll do more than teach—you'll transform lives in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

  • Competitive Salary: $56,000–$62,600 based on experience/education
  • Sign-On Bonus to celebrate your arrival
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement Planning: Colorado PERA retirement plan
  • Personal Leave: Time to recharge and balance your life
  • Professional Development: Coaching, collaboration, and growth opportunities tailored to your needs

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a 3rd–5th grade teacher at CLA, you'll:

  • Inspire and Challenge: Deliver engaging lessons that help students transition from learning to read into reading to learn, using high-quality curricula like Into Reading, Eureka Math, and Core Knowledge.
  • Build Strong Thinkers: Use data-driven instruction to push students toward mastery in literacy and math while supporting critical thinking, problem-solving, and writing skills.
  • Create a Positive Culture: Maintain a classroom where every student feels safe, respected, and motivated to take risks and grow.
  • Plan and lead explicit, standards-based lessons using the "I do, we do, you do" model
  • Reinforce routines that promote focus, responsibility, and engagement, using practices informed by Teach Like a Champion and brain-based strategies from Quantum Learning, including purposeful transitions, memory-enhancing tools, and an environment that supports emotional safety and motivation
  • Monitor student progress using real-time data, reteaching and differentiating as needed
  • Strengthen School Culture: Reinforce CLA's high expectations through consistent routines, clear structures, and positive reinforcement.
  • Partner with Families: Communicate regularly with parents about progress, goals, and celebrations.
  • Keep Growing: Be open to feedback, coaching, and collaboration as you refine your craft.

Who You Are

We're looking for teachers who:

  • Believe in Every Student's Potential: You hold high expectations and are relentless about helping students succeed.
  • Love the Upper Elementary Years: You enjoy working with 10–11 year-olds who are curious, energetic, and ready to be challenged.
  • Value Academics and Character: You balance academic rigor with building respect, integrity, and responsibility.
  • Work Well with Others: You thrive in collaboration and welcome coaching to grow your impact.
  • Bring Professionalism Daily: You show up prepared, positive, and committed to excellence.

Why Join CLA?

At CLA, teaching still feels like a calling. Our “Performance” rating from the Colorado Department of Education reflects our success, but our real strength is our culture of clarity, consistency, and care.

You'll teach in a calm, structured environment where kids are eager to learn, colleagues are deeply committed, and your time is respected. We provide the routines, resources, and support you need to focus on what you do best: teaching and inspiring students.

If you're a 3rd–5th grade teacher who wants to feel proud of where you work each day, this is the place.
