Digitizer (Information Technology)



Oldcastle BuildingEnvelopeĀ®, is the leading supplier of products specified to close the building envelope. They include: custom-engineered curtain wall and window wall, architectural windows, storefront systems, doors, skylights and architectural glass.

The primary function of a Digitizer is to ensure all shapes, drawings, and sketches from customers are accurate for production. This includes making sure the customer receives the correct product. Attention to detail is a must! A digitizer works closely and communicates with sales, production staff, and other digitizers to resolve any issues or concerns a customer has with drawings and sketches. Regular and predictable attendance, safe performance of tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for creating files from sketches, drawings, customer orders, and physical patterns for production using various CAD programs.
  2. Read and interpret sketches and CAD drawings in accordance with both production and federal guidelines.
  3. Communicate frequently with sales and production staff to ensure sketches and drawings are correct.
  4. Set up physical patterns for digitizing board. Take pictures of the patterns and upload to CAD software.

Experience and Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 1 year previous CAD experience.
  2. Must have ability to read and understand drawings, sketches, and orders and incorporate this information into CAD programs for production.
  3. Must have the ability to create and modify drawings in CAD software.
  4. Accurate data entry skills, numerical skills, and good math aptitude to include; fractions and decimals.
  5. Must be highly detail oriented and have the ability to solve problems with little guidance.
  6. Strong communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to multitask and work independently.
  7. Ability to digitize affectively which includes: efficient use of a camera and proper placement of patterns on a digitizing board.
  8. Must be able to interpret PMC shapes and surfaces.
