The USF Diabetes and Endocrinology Center, as part of USF Health and Tampa General Hospital, is this region's only academic medical center, provides a level of diabetes and endocrine sub-specialty expertise that is unmatched in the Tampa Bay area. Our clinical team includes four pediatric and five adult board-certified endocrinologists, three adult endocrine nurse practitioners, a clinical social worker, a mental health therapist, and five certified diabetes educators (three licensed dietitians and two registered nurses who have advanced training in diabetes technologies), a dietitian certified in weight management, diabetes technology specialists, an advanced practice nurse clinical operations director, a clinical nurse manager, a triage registered nurse, an endocrine testing nurse, a radiology technician certified in bone densitometry, two prior authorization specialists, and multiple licensed practical nurses and certified medical assistants to meet the needs of our patients and their families. In addition, we have a clinical research team comprising clinical research nurses and research specialists.

  • Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor.

  • Preferred Qualifications: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Endocrinology. Before assuming the position, a Florida teaching certificate or medical license is required. Candidates with focus in pediatric type 2 diabetes, weight management, and thyroid disorders and encouraged to apply.

  • Provide clinical services for children, teens, and young adults with diabetes and general pediatric endocrine disorders. The position includes the management of patients in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. Outpatient services and inpatient services may be seen at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and their affiliates.

  • The faculty member appointed will be expected to assist the divisional teaching programs involving medical students and house staff. The individual will be expected to effectively utilize his/her clinical practice and research as teaching resources. Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in clinic and hospital wards; lecturing and supervision of medical students, residents.

  • The faculty member will be encouraged to participate in ongoing research and in seeking funding for research. Collaborative efforts within the Department and the University will be encouraged. Will participate in divisional clinical research as studies become available. If funding for studies covers investigator time, may be relieved of some outpatient clinical duties to carry out research efforts.

  • Community events related to research, support of diabetes camps, and professional development.
  • \n
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
