Technician I (Finance)



TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic entry level Technician I to join our expanding Atlanta, Georgia team.

Job Summary

The selected candidate should be enthusiastic about learning and adapting to new technologies and tools while working collaboratively in a supportive team environment. Our dynamic group of civil engineering experts will mentor the candidate and assist with various traffic signal timing, design, and planning projects. This role provides the chance to be part of the SCATS (Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System) group in a team setting, offering experiences related to SCATS setup and traffic signal operations. The Technician I will deliver on-site and in-house support for the SCATS system and repair and install customer equipment like traffic signal controllers. Responsibilities may involve all aspects of field support, such as installation, troubleshooting, repairing or replacing electronic equipment, setting up and configuring component systems and firmware, including upgrades, modifications, and programming; performing preventive maintenance tasks; and maintaining documentation.

The candidate will participate in projects across the USA and Toronto, Canada, aiding our current clients, including state transportation agencies like the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), and various county and local municipalities. The successful candidate will become a vital part of our growing team and have the chance to contribute across multiple markets and regions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Help with SCATS data entry and configuration.
  • Observe and attend meetings with the engineering team and other project stakeholders
  • Installation, preventive, and corrective maintenance of equipment, including Microsoft Windows and Linux-based hardware, traffic signal controllers, and network communications equipment.
  • Respond to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and system issues.
  • Report on the technical status of the system with accuracy and completeness.
  • Restore equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
  • Module or PC Board swap out.
  • Field test of units or components.
  • Maintenance of spare equipment and parts following guidelines set forth to do so.

Requirements and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is strongly preferred.
  • Typically requires 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must maintain driver's license in good standing as verified by TransCore.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical or networking concepts is helpful.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work with hand tools and small electronic components.
  • Able to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, and self-motivated to produce high-quality work.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, and take directions.
  • Able to pass a drug screening and background check.
