Position Summary

The Network Planner - Integration position is part of a team of personnel serving all functional areas of our business. The Operational Strategy & Innovation (OS&I) Team is collectively tasked with developing new processes and technology to advance CCI's strategic initiatives. The OS&I Integration team is responsible for deploying the innovations that have passed our development and testing criteria and are ready for deployment into our network. This team is directly accountable for deploying and implementing innovations that will impact organization wide growth and expansion.

 

The Network Planner will be responsible to coach, train, mentor, and support regional teams in the engineering, design, and construction of Crown Castle fiber networks. The position will support the Engineering Manager and work across fiber engineering and network construction teams to support the implementation and deployment of new technologies. The individual will work cross-functionally with Crown Castle teammates to improve the quality of processes, deliverables, and end-to-end customer experience. This will include the creation, implementation, and monitoring the adherence of network standards. The role is expected to maintain open communication across all areas of the business to create consistency while designing, implementing, and maintaining services; cognizant of fostering the vision and values of Crown Castle.

 

Essential Job Functions

  •  The individual must be detailed oriented and possess the desire and ability to work in a collaborative environment, occasionally in a mentorship role with less experienced team members.
  •  Develop and coach fiber engineering and network construction teams on technology in use and/or under development.
  •  Support the production of quality engineering deliverables by monitoring adherence to published standards and propose corrective action plans to address issues identified
  •  Assist in the development and implementation of network standards documentation
  •  Identify training gaps and opportunities to impact the operational business process
  •  Assist in new market kick-off conversations
  •  Support regional teams in reaching Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals through market analysis for new deployments and QA/QC of engineering deliverables
  •  Provide support to the Engineering Manager through the monitoring and reporting on KPIs of deliverables and supporting operational workflows
  •  Work cross-functionally with departments to modify or improve existing systems, tools, and processes as it relates to engineering workflows while providing recommendations for network data improvements

 

Education/Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field is preferred

 

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of telecommunications experience or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of engineering and fiber design experience (aerial and underground) required
  • General knowledge of telecommunications network design (i.e. DWDM, MPLS, and wireless system connectivity)
  • Working knowledge of fiber construction standards (aerial and underground) required
  • Strong understanding of NESC, NEC, JPA, and GO95 as it relates to telecommunications rules and regulations
  • Strong background with GIS based mapping systems, experience with OSPi and QGIS preferred

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of Small Cell power requirements

Reports to: Engineering Manager - Integration

Working Conditions:  Could be required to travel to project sites with potential exposure to heavy equipment and environmental conditions up to 25% of the time. Works in a normal office setting in a hybrid schedule with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions the remaining 75% of the time.

 

Compensation Information: For California, Colorado and New York City residents the hiring range offered for this position is $98,320 - $141,335 annually. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 20% of annual salary and restricted stock. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
