Summer 2026 Intern – Data and AI Analyst – DCCA (Finance)

Summary

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board's Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board's internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.The Division of Consumer and Community Affairs (DCCA) conducts research to increase understanding of the impacts of financial services policies and practices on consumers and communities. The Data and AI analyst intern will work with a team of data scientists and economists to prototype and build out AI systems to leverage available text data repositories to support research and policy work. The intern would also support research and applicable testing to understand Agentic AI systems for economic research.

Overview of Division, Section and Team: The selected intern will be joining the Data Analytics team in the Research, Analytics and Engagement branch of DCCA. The intern will work across team boundaries, and with other interns, to support projects focusing on quantitative and qualitative understanding of AI for economic and financial data supporting consumers and communities.

Expected Projects: Build out AI systems to leverage available text data repositories to support research and policy work. Support ideation and development of prototypes using generative AI and/or agentic AI for economic and financial data supporting consumers and communities.

Suggested Major/Minor: Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, or a related field

Required Skills and Knowledge: Practical knowledge of Large Language Models and other AI models; proficiency in Python and/or R.

Preferred Skills: Experience working with economic data, comfortable presenting information to various audiences.
