Regulator Compliance Specialist (R&D)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Product Stewardship Specialist – (Chemicals) will be tasked to support on all matters relating to the product safety and regulatory compliance of chemicals used by NexTier. Key areas will be to develop, maintain and improve the a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and Technical Data Sheet (TDS) management systems and to support on strategy for disclosure/communication of sensitive chemical information, such as with FracFocus, to ensure that the company complies with all applicable global regulations and exceeds the expectations of our customers.

Key Accountabilities

Essential Functions

  • Support on the development and continuously improve written strategies, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Author SDSs and labels following DOT, GHS and OSHA 2012 regulations and guidelines.
  • Confer with relevant NexTier departments and personnel, including Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain and QHSE to implement suitable
  • systems, processes, and procedures
  • Support Coordinating with and direct chemical suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications and NexTier requirements
  • Participate in incident investigation, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure that all chemical products, and the practices or processes utilizing them to meet local, state, national standards as well as NexTier
  • standards
  • Assure safe working conditions and compliance with all regulatory requirements for handling of chemicals
  • Support on corporate technical representative on chemical QHSE management matters
  • Perform all other job duties assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

  • Expertise in the GHS classification of chemical substances and SDS authoring preferably using WERCS software
  • Basic knowledge of all regulations, legislation, requirements, and obligations relating to chemicals and their use, as set by of OSHA, the US EPA,
  • Dangerous Goods for Transport and individual states (FracFocus)
  • Proven competence in a technical setting and ability to understand new technical concepts.
  • Detail-oriented with good analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Project Management skills to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled at Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Minimum Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field.

Minimum Required Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a regulatory role [or 2 years' experience and SDSRP™ (Safety Data Sheet Registered Professional)]
